🏃‍♀️❤️ Our community is rallying for Shankar once again ❤️🏃‍♂️

Earlier this year, many members of the Cayman running community came together to support Shankar Lingam, a beloved employee of Hotel Indigo and Kimpton Seafire who has been battling a severe case of meningitis. The response was incredible.

Now, we're being asked to show up for Shankar once again, this Sunday, 7 June.

Join the 4K Run or Walk and help support Shankar's ongoing recovery after more than nine months in hospital. Following the event, participants can enjoy refreshments, cold plunges (ice baths) and the chance to win raffle prizes, with all proceeds going directly toward his recovery.

🔴 Participants are encouraged to wear red in support of Shankar and to help raise awareness for meningitis.

If you were part of the first event, thank you. If you weren't able to make it, here's another opportunity to help make a difference.

Let's come together once again and show the strength and generosity of the Cayman community. ❤️

Some race moments stay with you forever, and this was definitely one of them. The breathtaking sunrise over South Sound on race morning at the 2025 Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon was pure magic. ✨

As the sky lit up in shades of gold and pink, our runners were treated to a view that made every early wake-up call worth it. There’s nothing quite like a scene this beautiful, it’s a reminder of just how special truly is. 🧡

This week we’re celebrating three fabulous queens from the 2025 Half Marathon who truly understood the assignment! Dressed in sashes, crowns and full princess spirit as Rapunzel, Cinderella and Aurora, they brought magic to every mile. 💜💙💛

We absolutely love when our runners show up ready to have fun, and these ladies delivered! Their energy, creativity and big smiles reminded us that race day is about joy just as much as it’s about the finish line.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jeff Galloway at the age of 80.

Jeff was more than a world-renowned runner, he was a pioneer, a mentor and an inspiration to millions around the globe. An Olympian and the creator of the revolutionary Run-Walk-Run method, he transformed the way everyday people approached running, making the sport accessible and achievable for runners of all levels.

We had the great honour of welcoming Jeff to the Cayman Islands in 2016 for the Cayman Islands Marathon. Even then, he was still going strong, energetic, generous with his time and deeply passionate about helping others discover the joy of running. During his visit, he hosted his running school here, sharing his knowledge, encouragement and signature enthusiasm with our local running community. Many who attended still speak about how impactful that experience was.

Jeff’s legacy lives on not only in record books, but in the countless lives he touched, including right here in Cayman.

We are sharing a photo of Jeff from his time with us in 2016, a moment that now feels even more special.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and the global running community. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to move us forward, one step at a time. ❤

Congratulations to Sarah Blake, who is registered to run the Half Marathon on 6 December! 🏃‍♀️✨

Sarah’s name was drawn from all participants registered by 31 January, and she’s now the proud winner of the stunning TAG Heuer watch! ⌚

165 lbs of plastics and 55 lbs of aluminium cans were recycled at this year’s Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon! ♻️

A big shout-out to Junk for collecting and rechecking recyclables, and for working in partnership with DEH to deliver clean, separated materials to the George Town Landfill Recycling Centre, where they’re prepared and shipped to overseas recycling partners.

Small actions make a big difference. Choosing to recycle helps protect our islands and reduce waste long after race day 💚
