💦 THIS is why I’ve been doing this for over 35 years.
Look at that face. ❤️
That joy. That confidence. That feeling of “Look what I can do!”
After more than 35 years of teaching swimming, I still get excited when I see a child discover what their body can do in the water.
Because I’ve never believed swimming lessons are just about learning to swim.
Yes, we teach kicking, floating, breathing, diving and eventually beautiful strokes.
But we’re teaching something much bigger.
We’re helping children build confidence and self-esteem. We’re teaching them to listen, learn, make decisions and understand that the water is something to enjoy and respect.
They become part of a little swimming community. They learn to take turns, respect their swimming friends, encourage each other and celebrate someone else’s success.
And one of the most important things we teach is how to think and make choices in the water.
We give children opportunities to problem-solve, make decisions and discover what their bodies can do. They learn when to try, when to stop, when to ask for help and how to make safe choices.
Because being a confident swimmer isn’t just about following instructions. It’s about developing independence, awareness and respect for the water.
That’s how we help create smart swimmers. 💙
And then comes the magic…
The freedom to swim.
To snorkel.
To dive.
To explore.
To play.
And simply LOVE being in the water. 🌊
After all these years, seeing a little face light up underwater still brings me the same joy.
That’s why I’m still here. That’s why I still teach. And that’s why I still absolutely LOVE what I do.
We’re not just teaching children how to swim.
We’re helping raise confident, capable, water-smart humans. 💙
