ICC Recognition Brings New Opportunities for Kuwait Cricket

Kuwait Cricket is delighted to welcome the recent update to the official cricket classification structure for teams competing in the 2027 ICC Menโ€™s Cricket World Cup Challenge League cycle.

Under the revised classification, all 12 Challenge League nations, including Kuwait, will now be eligible to play 50-over matches with official List A status outside of Challenge League competitions. These matches can be played against ODI-status nations or fellow Challenge League teams, providing greater opportunities for international competition and player development.

This recognition marks a significant milestone for Kuwait Cricket and strengthens the pathway for our national team to compete regularly in high-quality 50-over cricket. The ability to play official List A matches beyond ICC tournament events will offer players valuable experience, enhance performance standards, and contribute to the continued growth of the game in Kuwait.

As one of the participating nations in the current Challenge League cycle, Kuwait joins Jersey, Uganda, Italy, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong China, Kenya, Denmark, Qatar, Bahrain, Tanzania, and Singapore in benefiting from this important development.
Kuwait Cricket remains committed to providing its players with increased exposure on the international stage and looks forward to exploring new opportunities for bilateral and tri-series competitions under the expanded List A framework.
This positive step by the ICC further reinforces the global growth of cricket and creates an exciting future for emerging cricket nations striving to reach the highest levels of the game.

Indonesia Women Cruise to 10-Wicket Victory as Kuwait Women Suffer Batting Collapse

Kuwait Womens 60/9 (20)
Indonesia Womens 61/0 (8.5)
Indonesia Womens won by 10 wickets.

Kuwait Women endured a difficult outing as Indonesia Women registered a commanding 10-wicket victory in the ACC Women's Premier Cup 2026 after a dominant all-round performance.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Indonesia made early inroads despite Kuwait showing some resistance through S. Gomez (20) and P. Murali (13). The pair helped Kuwait reach 37 before the first wicket fell, but a dramatic middle-order collapse saw wickets tumble in quick succession.

From 44/2, Kuwait slipped to 55/9 as Indonesia's bowlers maintained relentless pressure. Derni Rambu Bangi starred with an outstanding spell of 4/5 from four overs, while Ni Kadek Ariani claimed 3/11. Kuwait eventually finished on 60/9 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Indonesia made light work of the target. Openers Rohmalia Pangestuti and Diah Wulandari dominated from the outset, finding boundaries regularly and never allowing Kuwait's bowlers a chance to settle.

Pangestuti remained unbeaten on a brisk 36 from 22 deliveries, while Wulandari finished not out on 25 from 31 balls as Indonesia raced to 61 without loss in just 8.5 overs.

The comprehensive victory highlighted Indonesia's superiority with both ball and bat, while Kuwait will look to regroup quickly after a disappointing batting performance.

Kuwait Women will now shift their focus to their next ACC Women's Premier Cup 2026 fixture on 6 June, aiming for a stronger display and a return to winning ways. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ผ

Kuwait Women Fall Just Short Against Malaysia Women Despite Strong Bowling Display in ACC Womenโ€™s Premier Cup 2026 Opener

Malaysia Womens 102/7 (20)
Kuwait Womens 93/7 (20)
Malaysia Womens won by 9 Runs.

Kuwait Womens team produced a spirited performance in their opening match of the ACC Womenโ€™s Premier Cup 2026 but fell just short against hosts Malaysia Women, who secured a hard-fought 9-run victory.

After being asked to field, Kuwaitโ€™s bowlers delivered an impressive display to restrict Malaysia to 102/7 in 20 overs. Mariamma Hyder starred with the ball, claiming 2/15 and reaching the milestone of 50 WT20I wickets. Candice Dias was equally effective, finishing with 2/10, while captain Amna Sharif picked up two wickets to keep the hosts under pressure throughout the innings.

Chasing 103 for victory, Kuwait lost an early wicket but rebuilt through Siobhan Gomez Lee (22) and Zeefa Jilani, who top-scored with a determined 34. Shanthi Balasubramanian (9) and Maryam Omar (11) also made valuable contributions as Kuwait remained in contention deep into the chase.

Needing a late surge, Kuwait fought until the final over, but Malaysiaโ€™s bowlers held their nerve to restrict the visitors to 93/7. Despite the result, Kuwait showed great character and resilience, pushing the hosts all the way in a closely contested encounter.
The team will now shift its focus to the next fixture as they aim to register their first win of the tournament. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ
