Taekwondo was first competed in SungKyunKwan University, Suwon, during ‘Seoul Asian Game’ which Korea held in 1986 and in celebration of winning the second place at the end KANG Shin-chul the coach of the Iranian national team back then, was welcomed to settle down in this neighborhood, Namchang-dong (Haenkung-ro), in which the spirit of King Jeong- jo and‘the thought of filial piety’ have been br
eathing. Master KANG Shin-Cul (ninth-grade black belt) was adopted to a family of HONG Jong-su in 1998 who was a master of a party friendly to the world of warriors. Since then, Master KANG has been inheriting the tradition of the warriors (Hanyang University Medical Center, October 21, 1998)
With the career as the coach of the Iranian national team in 1985 as his very first step to the professional world, Master KANG led the Iranian national competition team for a decade until the year of 1995. He was named a president of a technique committee of Iran Association in 1996 and until the present day, Master KANG has been only expanding his area by training his students and participating in any relevant events to enhance the reputation of Teakwondo in Iran. Through his more than 50 training programs, Master KANG was honored to cultivate approximately 3,000 Taekwondo coaches and in the Worlds Poomsae Championship which was first held in 2006, he has been working as a Master coach of the Iranian national Poomsae team. On August 20, 2014, Grandmaster Shin-Chul Kang won the highest honor from Kiomars Hashemi, a chairperson of NOC on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Grandmaster’s dedication for Iranian Taekwondo. The former / current chief of the Iranian Association and board members along with the coaches and disciples participated at the event. The chairman of the Iranian Military Association, the President of Women’s Institute, the President of the Fallen Soldiers Association and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Islamic Republic of Iran (Woong Yeop Song) also attended in this ceremony. For the last 30 years, the number of medals that Master KANG won in international competitions including Poomsae championships would be 200 and more. In terms of overseas seminars, Master KANG shared his ideas and experience with others not only in Iran but also in China for nine times, Japan for once, the Netherlands for twice, Denmark for twice, Rumania for once, Tunisia for once, Sweden for twice, Portugal for once, Finland for once, the USA for once, Taiwan for once, the UK for once and Solidarity for 11 times In Korea, Master KANG established Taekwondo Master’s Association in 1994 and during his 10-year term as a president of the association, he successfully created foundations of the powerful break the Poomsae demonstration and the break demonstration. Currently, as a President of WTTU (World Taekwondo TaeDoo Union), he is concentrating on his researches believing in his philosophy“Dojang that would grow individuals right is everything about Taekwondo”

강신철태권도 남창도장은 1988년 1월 개관되었다.
1986년 처음으로 대한민국이 유치한 ‘서울 아시안게임에서 태권도는 수원 성균관대학교 에서 개최되었고 강신철 이란대표팀 감독은 종합 2위의 목표를 달성한 기념으로 정조대왕의 혼과‘효’ 사상이 숨 쉬고 있는 이곳 남창동(행궁로)에 터를 잡게 된다.
무덕관 출신인 강신철 (9단) 관장은 1998년 무덕관 우당 홍종수 원로의 삼은아들로서 무덕관의 적통을 이어받았다,(1998.10,21.한양대학교병원)
1985년 이란국가대표코치를 시작으로 1995년 까지 10년간 이란 겨루기대표팀 감독을 역임하였으며,1996년 이란협회 기술위원장 으로 현재까지 이란 태권도 발전을 위한 사범교육 및 다양한 활동을 하고 있다. 50여 차례 사범교육을 통해 3.000 여명의 사범을 배출하였으며 2006년부터 시작된 세계 품새대회로 현재 이란 품새 팀 감독직도 겸하고 있다. 2014.8.20. 테헤란 Talash Sport Center에서 강신철관장의 이란30주년을 기념하는 정부행사에 전 현 협회장과 전 부통령 군인협회장 여성협회장 전몰유공자협회장 송웅엽 이란대사 전 현 협회 임원들과 국가대표 코치 감독 제자들이 참여한가운데 NOC위원장인 Kiomars Hashemi 로부터 이란태권도 30년을 세계속에 우뚝세워준 감사의 징표로 이란 엔오씨 최고 훈장을 수상하였다. 지난 30년간 이란 감독으로서 획득한 국제대회의 메달 수는 겨루기 품새 통합 200개가 넘는다. 이란을 제외한 해외 세미나는 중국9회, 일본1회, 홀란드2회, 덴마크2회, 루마니아1회, 튀니지1회, 스웨덴2회, 포르투갈1회, 핀란드1회, 미국1회, 영국3회, 솔리데리티11개국가 사범교육,대만 등이 있으며 국내에서는 1994년 태권도고수회를 창시,10년간 회장 재임 중 한국태권도 사범들의 위력격파와 품새 및 격파시범의 기틀을 마련하였고 현재는 WTTU (세계태권도태두연맹) 의 총재로“올바른 사람을 키워내는 도장이 태권도의 모든 것이다”라는 철학으로 연구에 정진하고 있다,
2017년 현재까지 남창도장을 거처 간 외국인 태권도 관계자와 선수, 코치, 감독, 각국협회장 및 대사들이 3700 여명에 달하며 방문한 국가 수는 92개국에 이른다, 전국대회 아시아대회 및 세계대회에서 획득한 금메달 290여개와 139개의 트로피는 남창도장만의 독창적인 교육프로그램이며 근간인 “근기” 기술의 결과이며, 수많은 제자들을 태권도 명문인 경희대, 용인대, 한국체대, 가천대, 계명대, 단국대 및 상명대에 진학 시켰다. 또한 제자들은 교수, 강사, 박사, 이란 품새 국가대표코치 및 해외 세미나강사로 활발하게 활동하고 있으며 가족애로 결성된 태권도의 곳간 “남창도장”은 선후배들의 얼과 기운이 도장 곳곳에 땀으로 베여있는 엄격하면서 아름답고 정겨운 홍익인간을 추구하는 태권도 종가이다,,
