Training Backflips

In class yesterday we covered the basics of doing a backflip. Here are the things to remember:

1. You can't backflip unless you know how to jump. So practice jumping (high). Train 50 "cocorinhas" daily to develop the strength in your legs required to launch your body in the air. After you can do 50 cocorinhas without fatigue, convert your cocorinhas to jumping cocorinhas.

2. You can't backflip cleanly without a powerful tuck. So practice crunches and leg raises to develop strength in your abdominal muscles.

3. You can't backflip if you are scared or nervous. So practice concentration so that you can concentrate on each phase of the backflip. The more you concentrate, the less you will feel anxiety about performing the backflip.
