Led by Professor Buru. Authentic roots. Community focus. The philosophy
Kizomba and semba is an African dance, in African dance is an essential element of Africa’s cultural heritage, providing a vital expression of the region’s philosophy, and the living memory of its cultural wealth and its evolution over the centuries, as observed by Alphonse Tiérou. Because it has more power than gesture, more
eloquence than word, more richness than writing and because it expresses the most profound experiences of human beings, dance is a complete and self sufficient language. It is the expression of life and of its permanent emotions of joy, love, sadness, hope, and without emotion there is no African Dance. Kizomba and semba is here to make you feel alive, in a way that is different to anything else you had experienced before. It has life and blood of its own, an identity, a history, refuge, a story, a repository of memories and feelings, an essence that dual coexistence can be an individual. It touches, embraces and welcomes people with open arms and heart, and it whispers, cry and tells tales they get louder the further you are drawn in. You need to lead or follow your own body as your partner’s body while listening to the music and ,with no thoughts, interpreting what your partner is saying about your request. Basically the secret is to move together with your partner as one unit, this can be achieved by learning open heart with commitment, listening to the music with the ear of the kota’s and do try to learn the words only then you can harness the full potential of the music.. Our mission
is to preserve, protect, cherish, and teach the wisdom of kizomba and semba to those who seek it.Kizomba and semba is not just a dance or music genre even though, as you know it kizomba and semba has history that stretches to struggles for freedom, exploitation of africans, tales of heroes, love, romance and all there is in life.
