Teenagers that grow up in a typical African setting, are not given space to be teenagers. They are always tasked with activities and life changing events that only an adult human has enough capacity and resilience to carry out. Teens growing within Narok County, and all Maa communities at large, are not an exception to this community-imposed rule. Teens in these communities have been reduced to parents, laborers and school dropouts. This is exactly the reason why each year, Narok county leads in cases of teen pregnancies. Although FGM was once the main reason for this, I fear it no longer is because this practice has been curbed.
Enkeiwua Agency Rebranding Teenhood (E.A.R.T) is a grassroot organization based in Narok county that is fighting for the rights of Teenagers in Narok with their slogan, "Let Teens be Teens." This slogan is aimed at lessening the burden that has been shouldered by these teenagers.
Enkeiwua Agency seeks to Rebrand Teenhood through the use of Art. This organization has held Various events such as Modelling competitions for the Mr. and Miss. Enkeiwua using teens. Enkeiwua Agency operates actively on the ground and offer appropriate age education and also offers art education to these teens to help occupy their time and minds with attaining proper skills.
