🇸🇸 Happy Independence Day, South Sudan!

As we celebrate 9 July, the day our beloved nation gained its independence, let us also pause to remember one of South Sudan's greatest sons.
Many people remember him for his incredible basketball career. In Sudan, he was much more than a basketball player. He was a patriot, a humanitarian, and a man who sacrificed for his people.
During the long years of war, Manute Bol gave away much of the wealth he earned through basketball to help Southern Sudanese who were suffering. He supported refugees, helped provide humanitarian assistance, and used his international fame to tell the world about the struggle of his people. He believed that one day South Sudan would become a free nation.
Today, when we proudly raise our flag and watch the South Sudan basketball team compete on the world stage, let us remember that our journey was built on the sacrifices of heroes like Manute Bol. His love for South Sudan was greater than fame, greater than money, and greater than personal success.
Freedom came at a great cost. Our responsibility today is to protect the peace, remain united, and build the country that heroes like Manute Bol dreamed of.

Happy 9th July, South Sudan. May God bless our nation, and may the soul of Manute Bol continue to rest in eternal peace. You will never be forgotten.
