🥊 NDONDI MASHINANI — THE TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION! 🚂🔥

Today, Mombasa County Boxing Association took boxing to the grassroots, hosting an electrifying tournament at Sinero Grounds, Nyali Maweni, and what a day it was!

The tournament attracted a mammoth crowd, with the distinguished UDA Secretary General and Mombasa 2027 gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Hassan Omar Sarai alongside other leaders and dignitaries, gracing the occasion.

The atmosphere went into a frenzy as our young and talented boxers stepped into the ring and displayed textbook techniques, courage, discipline and pure fighting spirit. Every bout was a reminder that the future of Kenyan boxing is alive and kicking right here in our communities. 🥊🔥

Ndondi Mashinani is no longer just an initiative — it is a movement! The train has left the station, and it is heading straight to the boxing paradise. 🚂🥊

There is a lot of untapped talent out here, hidden in our estates and villages, waiting for someone to discover, nurture and give them a platform to shine.

Our mission is simple: Take boxing to the people, identify talent from the grassroots, nurture champions and build a stronger future for Kenyan boxing.

Inline with Boxing Federation of Kenya's unwavering commitment to create exposure opportunities for our junior boxers, we are proud to inform you that we are going to compete at the *International Youth Boxing Tournament "Eurasian Dauria Cup"*, hosted by The Russian Boxing Federation.

The international boxing event will be held at the City of Chita, Russia from 6-13 September 2026. Kenya will compete in 51Kgs and 60kgs weight categories through Douglas Juma and Phelix Ochieng respectively. The 17 year old boxers are both from Kibra Youth Boxing Club.

For reminders, 16 year old Ella Demesi also qualified for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games to be held in Dakar, Senegal from October 31 to November 13, 2026. Ella becomes the first ever female boxer to participate in the prestigious global event_

To every young boxer lacing up their gloves in our local gyms: your dedication is seen, your hard work matters, and Boxing Federation of Kenya is in your corner!

3rd Leg in Vihiga promised fireworks, and the fighters delivered! It wasn't about perfect records—it was about heart, heavy hits, and non-stop action from the first bell to the last.

Minimum, Fly and Light welter remains heavily contested war zones both producing different winners in all the three legs payed so far in the national league. Bantam, Light and Light Heavy categories remaining tightly captured by KDF’s Dennis Muthama, Benedict Juma from Kasarani Youth Boxing Club and Robert Okaka from KDF respectively.

It was messy in the female category where underdogs didn't just show up; they completely took over. Juliet Opondo defeated experienced Elizabeth Akinyi boxingfor Kentrack , Kasarani Youth’s Damacline Boyani gave Prison’s Jane Wangere her second defeat while Nairobi’s Lencer Akinyi handed Veronica Mbithe her first defeat of the year.

More good news for Boxing in Kenya as 16 year old Ella Demesi qualifies for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games that will be held in Dakar, Senegal from October 31 to November 13, 2026. Ella becomes the first ever female boxer to participate in the prestigious global event.

The 51kg boxer from Kibra youth boxing club was one of the best boxers in her category during Qualifiers held in Bangkok earlier this year, got a nod from World Boxing to represent Kenya in the first ever Olympic event held on Africa soil.

From Gloves to Growth: Creating economic sustainability pathways for boxers.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to HE Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Governor Mombasa City County, for selecting 12 Mombasa-based boxers and coaches to be hired employees of Mombasa County Government, serving in the same capacity as boxers and boxing trainers stationed in all social halls in Mombasa.

“The boxers will now serve as boxing coaches across our social halls, nurturing emerging talent and providing our young people with safe spaces to train, develop discipline and remain positively engaged. Through sport, we are creating jobs, building champions and keeping our youth away from crime, drugs and other harmful influences” HE Govenor A.S. Nassir.

The Boxing Federation of Kenya continues to create meaningful career paths for our boxers and local coaches through its program by converting the quality of competition in our boxing leagues and skills displayed by our boxers into paid work as boxers and trainers, enabling our boxers and coaches to not only build long-term economic sustainability but also create lasting eco-system and skill transfer to the younger generation

The highly anticipated quarter-final bout between Robert Okaka and Dimeji Sh*ttu of England is scheduled for tonight! Okaka once again carries the weight of reviving Kenya's boxing medal hopes in Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Victory will put Okaka into the semi-finals which subsequently guarantees Kenya at least a bronze medal.
