~Dear Young Players

: Strikers

As a striker - when the ball arrives in the box it must find you there. This basic principle was active in Iqraam Rayners' goal.

~Dear Young Players

: "Form is temporary, but class is permanent."

I want to concisely debunk one of the popular, but fundamentally flawed statements.

The statement, "form is temporary, but class is permanent," is one of the most senseless and nonesensical statements in football. I don't know why so many people subscribe to it.

The statement is misleading. There is nothing permanent in football.

You have to grind day in and day out to be at the peak of your performance. If you stop putting in the work - your performance level will drop.

But it doesn't matter how much you work - one day age will catch up with you and your performance levels will drop. Nothing is permanent.

Reputation does not play football. It doesn't matter who you are, if you want to be at the top of your game for a long period - everytime you step onto the field you must grind like a young player who is trying to earn his first professional contract.

🇧🇷 Ronaldinho: "If you wanted me to play until 40 years, you should have banned all night clubs and alcohol institutions, because I am not a prisoner to anyone, I loved enjoying my youth by going out all night, but still come back and do magic on the field. But this story does not inspire young footballers, I am saying stay away from this life because it is simply not the right way to survive a long career in football." 🔥

~Dear Coaches

: Playing Against Man Marking Teams

When you are playing against man marking teams that seek to cut off the passing lanes - you need players who are comfortable on the ball in both tight spaces and under pressure. The player on the ball must be able to retain the ball an extra 3-5 seconds to invite pressure to himself, thereby freeing one of his team mates.

🗣️ Jose Mourinho talking about the difference between being a captain and being a leader in a team:

“Being a captain and wearing the armband doesn't mean being a leader. I had a captain who couldn't be a leader. People associate wearing the armband with being the team leader. It's not like that. Several time the captain is not the leader Javier Zanetti and John Terry, yes they were When you have these type of players in the locker room you can focus more on just being a coach in as such.

At FC Porto, for example, I had Jorge Costa. I remember one day we were losing 2-0 at the end of the first half against Belenenses and I was about to storm into the locker room. Before entering, he made me wait two minutes outside. When he finished talking and let me in, I just had to deal with tactical matters, because he had already taken care of the rest, the dirty work. He did everything I should have done. In the end, we won this match 3-2 and Jorge Costa scored two goals despite having never scored a goal in his life.

There is a big difference between a captain and a leader. You can't buy leaders, or create leaders but when you have a leader on your team, your team is one step ahead. Unfortunately, the world of football is now all about image and people focus more on those who claim to be the leaders, rather than those who really are.”
