Mvita XI hockey club is an amateur sports club based in Mombasa, Kenya,with a current player pool of over 35 players of different age groups. The club was founded in 2005 from the defunct MombasaYoungsters hockey club soon after withdrawal of long term sponsorship from the Coast Bus company. The Mvita XI Hockey Club won their first international tournament (The Phoenix Tanga invitational tournamen
t) in Tanzania soon after inception in 2005. Locally, theclub joined the second tier Kenya Hockey Union (K.H.U) national hockey league and were soon promoted to the top tier premier league, even attaining fifth position countrywide in the 2007–08 season. They again won the Tanga international tournament that season for a second time. The team has perennially been participating in the K.H.U premier league in Kenya and has always been a force to reckon with, except for the 2016 season where they failed to enlist owing to a lack of finances. The club has since reorganized its management structure and is set to participate in the new 2017K.H.U hockey league with ambition to uphold and surpass its rich tradition.
