Dear mama,
Have you noticed a dark line running down your belly during pregnancy? Sometimes it goes from your belly button downward, and for some women, it even stretches upward toward the chest.

That line is called Linea Nigra, which means “black line” in Latin.

Now, here’s the truth 👇
Many people believe that if the line goes above the belly button, it means you’re having a boy, and if it stays below, you’re having a girl.
But guess what? 😅 Those are just old myths — not science!

Here’s what’s really happening 👇
During pregnancy, your body produces more hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone. These hormones increase your skin’s pigmentation, making the natural line on your belly appear darker and more visible.

✅ What you should know:
• The line is harmless — it doesn’t affect you or your baby.
• It usually fades away after childbirth, though for some it takes a few months.
• Its color, length, or thickness doesn’t say anything about your baby’s health or gender.
• To know your baby’s gender accurately, an ultrasound between 18–22 weeks is the best way.
