A lot of people are yet to find out the relationship between hockey and chess. I believe in future, high performance under pressure will demand players to be frequently exposed to high pressure decision making situations limited by time and quality decisions required in micro-seconds (through chess). Hockey coaches need to introduce players to this game during light moments either as active players, or just spectators. I am glad the model is picking up across various sports brands ensuring big pools of active players, or better yet, a great pool of 'lethal analysts' reserved in chess. Big up to GHF School Network COACH 32 Spark Hockey and Chess and a few more brands that I will highlight in the coming months. Moments in time, I made sure to walk with a chess player into a game venue. My guests were different individuals with no clue how a hockey match was conducted. All I needed to do was tag them along, point out the team I supported, and asked them to take down their random thoughts at different times during the match. The commentary and play analysis was always priceless and on point. The accuracy in assessment of pressure situations would make a seasoned coach embarrassed.
