What are you currently up to, FB asked.... Well, to start with, I'm kidogo embarrassed by the fact I haven't posted anything for a loooooong time. Probably because I lost interest in FB, despite the fact a LOT happened at the farm. Cottage #3 is next to finished, we replaced ALL wooden poles supporting the roof of the workshop by concrete ones. We expanded our storage capacity of rainwater, eliminating the need to bring in salty and fluoride laden water in trucks. Enock and Evans have been planting fruits and vegetables and the whole farm is green and lush. Even to the extent we have difficulties in reaching the south side without using a panga 😇. But there is also some sad news. We lost Lois end of December. WAY to early of course, but some things we can't control. Thanks to the people of Royal Crest Veterinary Clinic-Kenya for coming over and take care of her.

It's been a while. Close to 3 years of drought, caused a lot of damage to the farm and it's surroundings. We've basically been in the survival mode, waiting for rain. And like always in Africa, the rain eventually came. With the support of El Ninjo, we had about 10 days of good rains. Grateful for the desired water, we will ignore the torn green house. It didn't survive the very strong winds and weight of the rain. Everytime you get hurt, you come out stronger, Africans say. I remember Luctor et Emergo. It's VERY sad Diesel is no longer among us and will no longer enjoy water in the dam

After 15 months of drought 1 month of frequent showers and life changed 180°. Dams are getting full, soil rehydrated and we went from dead dry to lush green.

We also had great moments. Friends and family coming over for a stay. Sometimes for a holiday, sometimes a attachment for school (Roos) and after a 4 week stay in NL, my loving wife joint me for a 3 weeks stay in Kenya. Now everybody went home again, me and my 'girlfriend' enjoy the quiet evenings again. Hoping for the rains to hurry up. Let's call baba butterfly for some support.
