Today our long awaited friendly match with our partner street children's outreach evangelist Ms. Eucabeth’s team of young boys who live on the streets of Eldoret took place at a Munyaka play ground from 10AM, thanks to Rispah, Marava, Eucabeth, Mark and Peter for all for all their effort to see the success of the event.
We are also very Grateful to God for the good weather all day! The REFC juniors’ started playing against the Juniors street kids and REFC lost 2-1 to the Juniors street kids'.
The REFC seniors’ also played the seniors from the street and the the REFC seniors’ won 2-1.
After the matches all the players plus the officials had lunch at a local ‘’Kibanda’’ and later converged at the play ground for a moment with God.
All went on well, after a brief introduction, Rispa invited me to lead the evangelical session.
I started by challenging the players that God loved them so much! Even in their situation, He still loved them no matter what. I then presented a song shortly as the players sang along; (with an accaustic guitar I had carried with me) ‘’ Neno Litasimama, ‘’ ‘The word of God shall stand forever’
I then invited a team of Sunday school kids from our Rehema Fellowship who had also accompanied me and they too presented a song ‘’Lord I lift your name on High’’ and later a 3 minute drama with a theme ‘’Life is only found in the Word of God-Jesus!’’
One of the Sunday schools boys, ‘’Collins Kirwa’’ testified before the players, about his salvation and even challenged the footballers that God Loves them as welland that they should accept His son Jesus Christ into their lives no matter what they were going through.
At first, Kirwa was very scared of testifying before the audience of both young and elderly footballers nut after encouraging him to stand UP for Jesus! He immediately gained confidence and was able to testify despite some jeers from the Audience.
One Sunday School girl, ‘’ Njeri’’ who was also lined up to testify, was too afraid of the jeers and couldn’t testify. Later I encouraged her that that was what evangelists of Christ sometimes have to endure in order to preach the word of God to every Nation as Jesus commanded in Matt 28:19.
Lastly, one of the street boys, ‘Wafula’’ also testified of how they had been challenged by what they learnt and also of the successful matches.
Last but not least, Eucabeth summarized to the players all that had been taught to them by the different speakers that day and later gave a vote of thanks.
Marava finalized by presenting an award of one new football to the Juniors street Kids’ team and a set of bibs to the seniors’ streets boys’ team.
The event was closed with a prayer from Eucabeth at half past five O’clock.
