OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE STATE OF WOMEN’S FOOTBALL
The current state of women’s football in our country is deeply concerning and cannot be ignored any longer. Despite the immense talent, passion, and resilience demonstrated by our players and clubs, the game continues to suffer from chronic underfunding, lack of clear structures, and inadequate attention to player welfare.
It is unacceptable that, in this day and age, our female athletes still have to fight for the most basic conditions—safe playing environments, proper medical support, fair compensation, and organized leagues. These are not privileges; they are fundamental rights.
We call upon the Football Kenya Federation to rise to the occasion and honor the promises made during campaign periods. Leadership must translate into action. The time for statements has passed—the time for deliberate, transparent, and accountable implementation is now.
However, even in the face of these challenges, we remain hopeful. Across the country, women’s teams continue to rise, driven by determination and love for the game. These clubs are the backbone of our football future, and they deserve unwavering support.
We therefore call upon corporate partners, sponsors, development organizations, and well-wishers to step forward and invest in women’s football. Your support can transform lives, uplift communities, and build a sustainable and competitive football ecosystem.
Together, we can change the narrative. Together, we can build a future where every girl with a dream has a fair chance to play, grow, and succeed.
