Beatrice Chebet - You are The One

At the Prefontaine Classic, thine name was called, and in indeed you were "the one"! The obliterator, the hidden sniper.

In 2024, the 10,000m world record went down with one bullet, time stamp; 28:54.14—the first woman ever under 29 minutes.

In 2025, at the same spot, the glass was shattered for the 5,000m world record, time stamp; 13:58.06— first woman under 14 minutes.

Only athlete to break both barriers while setting world records!, You are the one. You have Joined, Tirunesh Dibaba; only woman to win Olympic gold in both the 5,000m and 10,000m and hold both world records!

It all begun at the Sydney world Crosscountry when they thought you could he useful for the team, now you are essential. You are the first Kenyan, male or female, to do so—and just the third person ever after Bekele and Dibaba.

She's truly THE ONE.

What a great endorsement to start the day:

"I have known Meshack Sang for many years, and throughout that time, he has consistently demonstrated openness, tolerance, and leadership. He is someone who welcomes divergent views and beliefs with respect and understanding — a rare and valuable trait, especially in the world of sport where emotions can run high.

Meshack is also deeply knowledgeable about athletics, both from a technical and historical perspective. His insights have guided athletes, coaches, and sports administrators alike. He is a truly resourceful individual, always ready to contribute meaningfully to any discussion involving the development and integrity of Kenyan sport.

He played a foundational role in the creation of Sports Plus Agenda 1 (SPA 1) — the first sports-only online forum in Kenya. SPA 1 was a pioneering initiative, providing a unique platform where stakeholders in sport could engage, exchange ideas, and debate constructively on matters affecting Kenyan athletics. Unfortunately, over time, SPA 1 lost its original direction, particularly after becoming entangled in the orbit of personalities like Asbel Kiprop who hijacked the forum and whose influence altered the tone and focus of the forum. He used it to preach his “I didn’t dope” gospel”.

In response to this, Meshack and like-minded contributors launched Sports Plus Agenda 2 (SPA 2) — a rebirth of the original idea. SPA 2 is now the leading online sports discussion platform in Kenya, serving as a vibrant space for coaches, athletes, administrators, and fans to debate issues, share knowledge, and promote the growth of sport with integrity and vision.

Meshack Sang’s continued presence and leadership in this space reflect his unwavering commitment to Kenyan athletics. He is not only a thought leader — he is a community builder, and his contributions deserve recognition."
