I made a new friend (Alina) at my gym a couple of months ago. I told her about parkrun a few weeks ago, she’d never heard of it before. She looked it up and said she was going to go. I told her me and Greg were going so she could have a lift with us 🚙
We all went together on a cold but sunny Saturday morning. Me and Greg finished our run, we waited for Alina to finish as we were going for breakfast together afterwards 🥐
It’s 4 laps of the park, Alina did 3 laps and said she couldn’t do another lap (her first parkrun and first 5k run in a while) I said she won’t get a finishing time, she said it didn’t matter, she couldn’t run anymore. I told her we’ll walk it together, she was a bit unsure but she agreed. We walked for a bit and then she said she could jog, and she did, all the way across the finish line 🏃🏻♀️ finished in 36:49 which is great for her first time 🏅
She was so happy and I was so chuffed for her. Greg took these photos, I’ve zoomed in on my happy face of her crossing the finish line. I’ll always cheer on and support people who don’t think they can do it but give it a go anyway, and then do it when it comes to exercise/working out 👏🏼
Never doubt yourself.
