Maverick CC Tokyo registered their second consecutive victory in the Japan 40 Over Community Cup with an impressive 5-wicket win over Saitama Royals, successfully chasing down 205 runs in just 27.4 overs.
After being put into the field, Maverick’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict Saitama Royals to 204 all out. The bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings and picked up wickets at crucial intervals to keep the opposition from posting a bigger total.
Imthad Ahamed led the attack brilliantly with figures of 2/20 from 5 overs, while Isuru Mihiranga (2/33) and Nimesh Rasanjana (1/30) provided excellent support to ensure Maverick remained in control.
💯 Sajith Jiffry Steals the Show
Chasing 205 in a 40-over contest, Maverick approached the target positively from the outset. The innings was headlined by a sensational knock from Sajith Jiffry, who produced a match-winning 120 off just 69 balls, including 16 fours and 7 sixes.
Sajith dominated the chase with fearless stroke play and excellent game awareness, keeping Maverick ahead of the required rate throughout the innings. Valuable contributions from Rasika Chandimal, Malith Rathnasena, and the middle order ensured Maverick crossed the finish line comfortably with five wickets in hand.
