Tsukuba International Tennis Club - TITC

We practice tennis every other week near Doho park in Tsukuba, Ibaraki. The purpose of TITC is to enjoy tennis and international exchange at the same time.

The Tsukuba International Tennis Club (TITC) was started by Akira in August 2012 as a small group of people who play tennis among the members of our international hiking club, TWMC. The group grew bigger and now about 8-10 people attend the practice. The tennis practice is held every other week, on Sunday afternoons, in Tsukuba, Ibar

aki. The purpose of TITC is to enjoy playing tennis and having international exchange at the same time. There is no annual membership fee and all you have to pay is 100 yen in each practice, which is used for buying new balls and other club equipments. Members tennis levels range from beginner, intermediate to advanced and about half of the members are foreigners and the other half are Japanese. The majority of members are researchers, but there are also some non-researchers, such as office workers, company owners, engineers, university students, etc. We practice usually on Sunday afternoon and we play doubles or singles games. We require new members to be able to speak some English, possess their own Tennis gear (except for balls), and have some Tennis experience. Ideally, new members should feel comfortable practicing independently with fellow members and playing singles and doubles and games. Barbecue party + Tennis event at Yukari-no mori 3rd July, 1pm-5pm.

We (TITC) will organize a barbecue and tennis event (together with TWMC) from 1pm to
5pm on 3rd July. The tennis courts are located
on the northeastern side of the barbecue area,
about 100 meters away.

and wear tennis shoes. You need to sign up to join
this event, by sending the following information to
me in advance.

I need to do this because the court administration
asks me to submit this information because of
COVID.

Here I forward announcement from Anja, an organizer at Tsukuba Walking and Mountaineering Club. Barbecue party organized by TWMC last from 10am to 3pm.

The TWMC summer party at Yukari no mori will even more fun: you can also play tennis!
The Tsukuba International Tennis Club reserved the tennis court at Yukari no mori from 13:00-17:00 (thanks Akira).
Everybody can play, first timers, experienced players, young and old, good or bad players. Let's enjoy!

Rainy season is not fun for hiking so we have a summer BBQ party instead.

Everybody is welcome! Even if you have never been on a hike, please come and join. It is a great chance to get to know people, hear about exciting hikes and club activities, and enjoy good times with BBQ together.
Participation is free and TWMC will provide food and non-alcoholic drinks. If you want you can bring a (home-made) dish or (alcoholic) drinks to share.

It might be cloudy and even rainy. Bring an umbrella to be sure. Part of the BBQs are under a roof.

We will be there from 10 o'clock and start preparing, if you want to help please come.
Like making fire? food? turning some sausages? We need some volunteers to help take care of the bbqs.

Place: Yukari no Mori

Transportation: You can reach Yukari no mori by bicycle or car. There is parking available.
You can also take a bus from Tsukuba center.
If you need a ride, please let us know. You can probably catch a ride with somebody.
By bicycle it takes about 30 minutes from Tsukuba center.

Today, three new members have joined our club, Yuri, Shige and Phil. Thanks for joining our session at Matsuno-sato, Tsukuba! Hopefully we can play at courts closer to the Tsukuba center in the near future.
