Experience one of Tokyo Tama’s most treasured autumn traditions in Hinode Town.
Held on the weekend closest to September 29, the Dance of the Phoenix (Hōō no Mai) and Yakko Dance have been performed for generations as prayers for rain, good harvests, and protection from illness. Recognized as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan and included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage under “Furyu-odori,” this vibrant festival showcases the deep cultural roots of the local community.
Enjoy colorful processions, traditional music, energetic dances, and beautifully illuminated festival floats as Hinode Town welcomes the arrival of autumn.
