和ばさみは、先々代の親方が、８本同じものを、安広さんで作って、この中から一本好きなものを選べと言って分けて貰ったものです。
キバサミは、有る職人さんから譲り受けたものです。
Hさんあんた天龍寺で仕事してるやろ、わし、もう仕事無理になってきたから、わしのはさみをつこてんか。いゃあ～私には、こんなりっぱな、ハサミ頂けません。いやっつこて。
そういわれで４６年。この2つのハサミも、今度は自分が誰かに託す日が近づいて来ています。大切に人も思いも乗せて行くと只の道具ではないですね。」
社内のラインにて曽根造園の番頭が皆に向けて送ってきてくれました。
次世代に繋ぐ事で続いてきている仕事だと改めて思いました。
I have two pairs of shears which I have used for 46 years. One of them is a wabasami, a pair of pruning shears and the other is a kibasami, a pair of wood cutting shears.
The wabasami was given to me by my late master(mentor). He ordered 8 pairs of wabasami. from Yasuhiro, a highly acclaimed blacksmith, When the shears were done, the master(mentor) made me choose one pair and gave it to me.
The kibasami was given to me by a certain craftsman. One day, he said to me,”H-san, you are working for Tenryuji Temple, right? These days I find it difficult to continue my work, so please use shears. My first reaction was “No, I cannot accept your offer”. However, eventually I accepted it.
46 years have passed since I received these two pairs of shears. Now the time for me to hand them down to someone of the next generation is approaching. The shears might be just a tool. However, when the memories and spirits of your predecessors who gave them to you are attached to them, they become more than just mere tools.
The above message was sent by our head gardener to the members of our company’s LINE group. His message reminds us that our work is being sustained from generation to generation by passing tools to the next generation.
