『Chiang Mai Trip』

"Chiang Mai Trip"
I returned to Chiang Mai, Thailand's second-largest city and ancient capital, after 25 years.
The unchanging cityscape I remembered, along with the developed landscape, created a very fresh feeling.
I pulled out the Thai I had studied from memory to communicate. The "sabai sabai" spirit of Thailand, the land of smiles, warmly welcomed me.
After completing my long years of training in India, Thailand has given me a depth I hadn't seen before, and I feel a greater sense of breadth.
Its unique culture, situated almost exactly between Japan and India, is said to have received Vedic teachings before the BC with 70% of the Thai language derived from Sanskrit, and classical dance performances based on the great Indian epic, the Ramayana.
Jivaka (Shivaka), the founder of Thai medicine and the personal physician of Buddha, is famously a sage of Ayurveda. Seeing the Vedic gods, such as Ganeshaji and Brahmaji, seamlessly integrated into people's devout lives, makes me feel like the meaning of my long-awaited return is finally connecting.
A clearer world unfolds before me than when I was just starting out, and I'm excited about the new encounters in Thailand.
