シャフトづくりの土台となるのが、金属製の芯金。
三菱ケミカルの愛知事業所には約1000種類もの芯金をストックし、モデルごとに使い分けられています。
さらに興味深いのは、
同じ芯金を使っても、巻く素材の量や重ね方、構成が変われば、まったく異なる特性のシャフトになるということ。
太いもの、細いもの。
その選定に加えて、どんなレシピを重ねるかによって、一本の個性が決まっていきます。
何気なく使っている一本の裏側には、
こうした緻密な設計の積み重ねがあります。
At the heart of every shaft is a metal mandrel, which serves as the foundation for its shape and design.
At Mitsubishi Chemical’s Aichi facility, approximately 1,000 different mandrels are kept in stock, with each one carefully selected according to the shaft model.
What makes the process even more fascinating is that the same mandrel can produce shafts with entirely different performance characteristics. It all depends on the amount of material used, how the layers are arranged, and the overall construction.
Thick or thin, the choice of mandrel is only the beginning. The unique character of each shaft is ultimately shaped by the precise material recipe layered around it.
Behind every shaft lies an accumulation of meticulous design decisions and manufacturing expertise.
