カーボンフットプリント（ＣＦＰ）は、製品の一生涯（ライフサイクル）を通じて排出される温室効果ガスをCO2に換算して算出・表示する仕組みです。
原材料調達ー生産ー流通ー使用・維持管理ー排気・リサイクルの各段階ごとに、CO2の排出量や排出の原因が特定できることから、製造事業者のみならず、運搬・小売・サービス事業者、さらには生活者においてまで、CO2削減行動を訴求できることからその活用可能性が期待されています。

―The Japanese Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) refers to a scheme of “visualizing” (making a declaration) of CO2 equivalent emissions, obtained by converting GHG emissions of an entire life cycle stages of a product, from the raw material acquisition stage to the disposal and recycling stage. By using such “visualized” information and through analysis of CO2 emissions from each stage of a product, businesses can promote their reduction efforts since they understand the hotspots of CO2 emissions. Consumers can become conscious how much CO2 they emit from their purchasing, using, and disposal/recycling of the product which they are involved with, and can act for CO2 reductions by changing their life-style based on CFP information and choosing and purchasing the approved CFP products.―
