北辰一刀流　Hokushin Ittoryu Kotoukan

上覧演武会にて披露させていただいた組太刀と、居合。
信州松代真田藩は伊達藩と深いつながりがあります、玄武館の分室であった千葉定吉先生の任されていた道場に伝わる千葉家家伝の北辰夢想流居合、この居合いは玄流抜刀剣（千葉周作考案の初伝中傳奥伝）と違い千葉家伝来で千葉佐那女史が伊達藩のお姫様の剣術指南をされたときに披露した居合いである、今回殿様と奥方様に伊達藩の姫様のエピソードをお話しさせていただき披露する運びとなりました。
Here are the *kumidachi* (paired sword forms) and *iai* (sword-drawing techniques) that I performed at the *Joran Enbukai* (demonstration before the feudal lord).
The Sanada Domain of Shinshu-Matsushiro shares strong ties with the Date Domain. The *Hokushin Musō-ryū Iai* demonstrated here is a tradition passed down within the Chiba family—specifically from the dojo managed by Sadakichi Chiba, which served as a branch of the *Genbukan*. Unlike the *Gen-ryū Battō-ken* (a system of introductory, intermediate, and advanced techniques devised by Shūsaku Chiba), this *iai* is a distinct family tradition; it is the very style demonstrated by Ms. Sana Chiba when she served as a swordsmanship instructor to a princess of the Date Domain. I had the honor of sharing the story of that Date princess with the Lord and his Lady before performing these techniques.

虎韜館今日の稽古　小刀　小太刀
虎韜館に伝わる小太刀の技は小野派一刀流中西派組太刀の達人寺田宗有先生より千葉周作先生に伝わった小野は一刀流本目録の中の小太刀の次第５本の形、形とは流祖伊藤一刀斎先生と小野忠明先生の小太刀の使い方を稽古するものである、かってに小野派一刀流の形を変えたり、ちがう使い方を取り入れるのはしてはいけない事である、特に二つの斬り落しと言う形、斬り落しではなく受け流しをしている者が多い、３本目の転も回転方法を間違うと鍔で肋骨を折る危険な技である、そこには使い方という流派秘伝の口伝がある、特に海外の皆さん見よう見まねでやるのではなく日本で使い方を習ってから稽古しましょう、江戸時代日本最強と言われた小野派一刀流その使い方は超絶技巧である。虎韜館は一刀流の伝書を研究して昔のままに行い、伝えられるよう心がけています。
notably, many groups mistake the *kiri-otoshi* (downward cut) of the second technique in the *Sanbon-me* (Third Form) for a mere parry or deflection. Similarly, the *ten* (rotation) in the second technique is dangerous—if the rotation is performed incorrectly, the *tsuba* (sword guard) can break one's ribs—and mastering it requires the school's secret oral teachings regarding proper handling. To practitioners overseas in particular: do not simply mimic what you see; instead, learn the correct usage in Japan before engaging in training. The Ono-ha Ittō-ryū—practiced by the Ono family, who were reputed to be the strongest swordsmen in Edo-period Japan—employs techniques of truly transcendent skill.

今回の上覧演武の虎韜館のテーマは《礼法》であった、武士の礼法において最高格式の礼法　刀を右に前に左に置く様々な礼法がありますが当流儀では相手の格に応じて様々な置き方をする、左に置くは戦意ありとして注意する、前に置くは刀礼、右に置くは戦意無しだが同格の者か近き者、後ろに置くが戦意無しの格式的に最高格式と伝えられています、虎韜館ではこのような基準で相手の格式に合わせて日本武士道伝統の礼を行うよう心がけています。

It is said that ki for improving martial arts comes from the north and ki for promoting health comes from the south. The day before, I performed a breathing technique to guide the ki of the first god in the universe. Facing the North Star, the center of the universe, I performed the guiding ki breathing technique. 松代藩文武学校武道会創立２０周年を記念して、真田家１４代御当主様と奥方様をお迎えしての上覧演武会を執り行いました、佐久間象山が真田幸貫公に進言して出来た文武学校、「文武学校に吹く風は江戸の世に吹く風」、真田藩で行われていた武術を伝承、復元と藩流武術の先生方が努力してきました、伝統とは受け継がれゆくもの、真田のサムライ魂と武士の気骨、を当代のお殿様にご見聞いただきました。

5月24日日（日）は文武学校にて真田藩流武術演武会が執り行われます、今回は２０周年を記念して真田家御当主様をお招きした上覧演武会を計画しています、大名家上覧演武とは、日の本の国にて神様に奉納する、天皇陛下にご覧頂く天覧演武、将軍家御上覧、大名家と日本四大格式の１つである、松代藩文武学校武道会は真田家伝わった伝統武術の伝承と復元を目的に立ち上がりました、私たち虎韜館も文武学校武道会の立ち上げと時を同じくして松代藩伝来北辰一刀流兵法虎韜会として２０年前に復興しました、１０年後に稽古にきていた外国人に北辰一刀流兵法という名称を標章登録されたため名称を変更し１０年前に北辰一刀流　虎韜館として正式名称に切り替えました、若手も育ち自分で道場を構えるものも増え国内に４拠点海外に１拠点と千葉周作活人剣を伝えて技を術に変える稽古法を伝える
技の虎韜館の《目を閉じて斬り落しをかける》秘術《刀を振り上げずに行う斬り落し》《中央突破の秘術》などの奥義これからも失われないように伝えていきたいと思う。

虎韜館今日の稽古
北辰一刀流　正眼伝授　中央突破の秘術、当流儀の特徴は幕末千葉周作先生が考案した姿勢　掛り身、正対、つま先立ち、呼吸で腰を入れる、遠間から一気に入る技など当流儀独特の使い方で中央を突破する技が２０ほどありますが、小手先の技からヒジ先の技肩先の技と体幹につなげて最後には正中線へつなげるその方法が秘伝としてあり真ん中の力中心の力正眼の力を使い中央を突破します、カタナと腕と体幹をどう中心軸とつなげるか、つなげ方が秘伝、つなげた力を刀に乗せると受けさせない避けさせない逃がさない先制攻撃技が完成する、伝書の巻物にある　北斗の形にて敵する方へ回す剣先という技が実在する、

北辰一刀流　正眼伝授　中央突破の秘術と云い現代剣道の礎とも言われる技である、先代から江戸時代の三段大目録を言い渡されその後個別に教えを受け今に残す、これはＳも知らないんだよ、Ｓがだめだったら君に頼むよといわれて東京から長野へ帰る前に伝授された技、君の斬り落しとこれがあれば自分で出来るだろうと虎韜館再興を後押ししていただいた技である、伝え20本わたしの工夫で5本虎韜館では25本の技術と、技を消して術にしていく指導法を当館師範代と各支部長に伝授している、術の位に上がると斬り落しも目を閉じて出来るようになる。正眼のまま目を閉じて切り落とせるようになる、古流の剣術は魔法だよと笑う先代85歳の笑顔が忘れられない。
