This beautiful creature in the photo is called a nudibranch, specifically the species Hypselodoris tryoni.
It’s a type of marine mollusk — basically, a sea slug without a shell.

Here are the details:

🔹 Scientific name: Hypselodoris tryoni
🔹 Common name: Tryon’s nudibranch
🔹 Family: Chromodorididae
🔹 Habitat: Found in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, often around coral reefs.
🔹 Depth range: From the surface down to about 30 meters.
🔹 Size: Usually between 5 and 8 cm long.
🔹 Diet: Feeds mainly on sea sponges, from which it absorbs toxins and stores them in its body for defense.
🔹 Coloration: Cream to white body with orange or yellow spots and a distinct purple edge around its body.
🔹 Respiration: It breathes through gills located at the rear of its body (the feathery structure on its back).
🔹 Sensory organs: The antennae at the front are called rhinophores, used for detecting chemicals and movement in the water.

Nudibranchs are considered “the jewels of the sea” because of their bright colors and huge variety — there are over 3,000 known species!

This creature is called a Moray Eel.

🔹 Characteristics and details:

Usually lives among coral reefs and rocky crevices.

Has a long, slender, snake-like body.

Its skin has no scales, but is covered with a protective mucus layer.

Sharp, pointed teeth help it catch prey such as small fish and octopuses.

It breathes by opening and closing its mouth constantly, which makes it look like it’s “threatening.”

Its colors vary depending on the species — brown, yellow, green, or even spotted.

Despite its scary appearance, the moray eel is not aggressive unless disturbed or approached too closely.
