which has been in existence since June 1972, borne out of the vision of our founder and President Dennis Barton. We started in the inner city communities of Paradise Rowe/North Gully. We have grown over the years and are ambassadors not only of Montego Bay but also Jamaica. Historically we were the first rural based team to win the National Premier League in 1987; a feat we repeated in 1997, and w

ere runners up in four other football seasons the latest being 1998. We were the first team to win the Inaugural Jamaica National Building Society Federation cup in 1992, and again in 1995 and were many times Parish champions and our junior teams have been champions in the St. James under 20 competitions every year since 1998. Traditionally, we have been known as the foremost competitor in the National Premier League, and major feeder to the National Team. This was evident at the time of Jamaica’s participation in the World Cup in France, where our very own Theodore Whitmore scored twice securing victory against Japan. In our halcyon days, we had nine players representing the Senior National Team at one time. Some Players received national recognition, namely, Alton “Noah” Sterling, Allan “Ply” Latty, Edwin “Fairy Boots”Alcock, Hector “Hecky” Wright, Stephen “Shorty” Malcolm and past # 1 Caribbean and renowned player of National and International repute and Past Head Coach of the club Paul “Tegat” Davis. Based on such high calibre of players, we have consistently commanded the respect of their counterparts not only in Jamaica but within the Caribbean. We have also received maximum support from fans island-wide, having in excess of 10,000 people cramming inside Jarrett Park and where our Fan Club had over 1,000 registered members. Football is the most popular sport enjoyed amongst people locally and nationally. exemplifies the aspiration of all sport loving people in Montego Bay and represents our continued fundamental foothold in national football. For Montego Bay, the prestige and historic significance of the Club’s and by extension, Montego Bay’s contribution to local and National football remains a lingering source of pride. For the continued development of football locally and for the vast potential represented in our young people, Montego Bay United F.C. must continue.
