The JAAA sends its sincere condolences to the staff, students, and other community members of the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport, in light of Mr. Gibbs Williams' unfortunate and premature demise. We are all shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden death in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Mr. Williams was a pillar of strength at GC Foster in addition to being a committed tutor. His persistent dedication to student welfare, relentless attempts to promote physical education and sports, and sincere concern for the wellbeing of the school community were very impressive.

It is challenging to find the right words to fully convey our condolences at this time. As GC Foster grieves this significant loss, we stand by your side and share your sorrow. We will remember Mr. Williams' contributions to the college and the lives he touched with tremendous respect and affection.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and through this difficult period, may the memories of Mr. Gibbs Williams provide you peace and comfort, and may his legacy serve as an inspiration for future generations.

The JAAA is saddened by the passing of Olympian Rupert Hoilett. Hoilett represented Jamaica in the 440 yards (400m) at various championships, with the 1964 Olympics being the pinnacle of his career.

Rupert was known as a hard worker with talent to boot. He was good enough to make the Olympic team even as a KC schoolboy coming out of Boy championships.

We owe our current successes to athletes like Hoilett who toiled hard for success and lifted the name of Jamaica even when there was not much to gain from the sport. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Condolences to his family and friends.

Rushell Clayton produced her PB and mined bronze in the womens 400m hurdles finals in at the World Championships. Rushell has been steadily improving all season and it culminates in a medal on the world stage.

Never count out a champion. Danielle Williams, reproduced a championship run reminiscent of 2015 and produced gold in at the World Championships in the 100m hurdles for women. Danielle clocked 12.43s for victory.

To the victor goes the spoils. Antonio Watson (left) had a fabulous season which culminated in gold in the 400m sprint at the World Championships in . Antonio dug deep to win in 44.22s ahead of Matthew Hudson-Smith of the UK (44.31s) and Quincy Hall of the USA (44.37s).

The little island of Jamaica continues to impress the world with monumental performances in the long jump. We salute the exploits of Wayne Pinnock (8.50m-left) for silver, Tajay Gayle (8.27m-right) for bronze, and Carey McLeod (8.27m) for 4th.

Danielle Williams - Gold - Womens 100m Hurdles
Wayne Pinnock - Silver - Mens Long Jump
Tajay Gayle - Bronze - Mens Long Jump
Rushelle Clayton - Bronze - Womens 400m Hurdles

Antonio Watson has delivered on his potential to become the World Champion over the 400m, winning in a time of 44.22s, with what was a well timed run to overhaul Mathew Hudson-Smith of the UK in the straight, who was second in 44.31s.

This is Jamaica's second gold medal at these championships in .
