Thank you to each and every one of you who came along, raced, volunteered and helped us honour and remember a cherished rider, Steven. ❤️

A special thank you to the Jeanne family for allowing us to come together once again to celebrate Steven’s life and the sport he loved. We hope the day was a fitting tribute to his memory. ❤️

A huge congratulations to Renouard Le Maistre and the Barettes team on winning an incredibly well-deserved award. We cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for the track, the club and the sport. 🏆

There are so many people who deserve a thank you for making not only the Steven Jeanne Memorial possible, but every event throughout the season.

❤️ To every rider and committee member — thank you for your support and for helping make this day, and the rest of our season, possible.

🔨 To everyone who has tirelessly helped at our working parties and events — your time and effort behind the scenes allows our race days to run as smoothly as they do, and we truly appreciate every hour you put in.

📋 A huge thank you to our Secretary, Sue Clark, for keeping everything running behind the scenes, and to Jenny Leonard for all your help with lap scoring and timing. Our events simply would not be possible without you both!

⏱️ Thank you to Bruce Clark and Stevie Leonard for fixing the timing loop at the very last minute on Friday evening and allowing us to go ahead with racing. Your quick work saved the day!

🎟️ Thank you to Amy and Ross Bellchamber for the huge amount of work that went into organising the event, the raffle and sorting all the tickets. It was a massive job and we are incredibly grateful.

🎁 A huge thank you to all of the sponsors, local businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes and supported the event. Your generosity helped us raise money for Mind Jersey and made the raffle such a success. We are incredibly grateful for every donation, big or small.

Motocross simply wouldn’t exist without the people behind the riders.

We need to confirm exact numbers with the caterer tomorrow morning, so tonight will be the final cut-off for anyone wanting food.

There will be NO additional food available to purchase on the day. Food will only be provided to those who have purchased a food ticket in advance.

🏁 Steven Jeanne Memorial Race Day – Saturday 5th September 🏁

Join us at Sorel Point for a special day of racing as we come together to remember a much-loved friend, mechanic and rider, Steven Jeanne, while raising money for Mind Jersey. 💙

This year’s event will be held on our completely redesigned track, offering something new for riders and spectators alike.

PLEASE READ

It is genuinely upsetting to hear some of the comments and criticism from members regarding the decision to close Egypte today.

This is not a decision that is made lightly, and it affects the committee just as much as it affects everyone else — we are riders too, and when the track is closed, we cannot ride either.

We do not close the track because we want to, and we certainly do not close it as a punishment. There are a number of factors that have to be considered, particularly rider safety and the condition of the track.

After such a long period of dry weather, even a relatively small amount of rain can leave the track extremely slick. Allowing riding in those conditions could result in injuries and, just as importantly, cause significant damage to a track that the committee and members have worked tirelessly to build, maintain and improve.

We simply cannot put people’s safety or the condition of the track at risk because a few members want to ride on a particular day.

If you are desperate to ride, we run 13 events throughout the year, giving you plenty of opportunities to race and ride the track. We want people to be able to enjoy Egypte just as much as anyone else does — which is exactly why we have to make difficult decisions like this when necessary.

Please also remember that this club is run entirely by volunteers. The people making these decisions have their own jobs, families, commitments and lives outside of the club. At the moment, the committee are also putting an enormous amount of their own personal time and effort into getting everything ready for an incredibly important event next weekend.

They are doing this because they care about the club and because they want you to have a club to ride at.

Without the committee and the many other members who give up their own time to help with working parties, events, maintenance and everything in between, there would be no club and no track for anyone to ride.

We completely understand that people can be disappointed when the track is closed. That is understandable. What is not helpful is the constant backlash, criticism and negativity towards volunteers who are genuinely doing their best to make the right decisions for the club as a whole.

Please think before posting comments or directing criticism towards the people who are giving up their own time to keep this club running.

We may not always get every decision right, but every decision is made with the safety of our riders and the future of the club in mind.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the committee, helps out and understands just how much work goes on behind the scenes. It really is appreciated. ❤️

IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, we’ve had to make the tough decision to close Egypte today. The track is currently flooded and extremely slick, and riding in these conditions would cause significant damage to the track that we’ve all worked so hard to maintain.

We know this is disappointing, especially for those who were hoping to get out riding today, but protecting the track now means we can keep it in the best possible condition for everyone going forward.

If you’re still wanting to get your racing fix, there’s always time to enter our Steven Jeanne Memorial event! 🏁

As we get ready for this year’s SJ Memorial Day, we’re asking everyone who won a trophy at last year’s event to please return it in preparation for this year’s presentations.

Now that the track has been graded, there are plenty of stones to pick up and a few odd jobs that need finishing. The more people we have, the quicker we can get everything ready!
