Recreational Fishing Survey 2026

Recreational fishing is an important part of Island life, supporting wellbeing, local businesses and our connection to the sea. This summer, we’re launching a survey to better understand recreational fishing activity, catches, and its value to Jersey.

If you’re a recreational sea fisher, we’d really appreciate your input. Your responses will help shape future marine management and ensure recreational fishing is properly recognised.

Our website is currently taking an unscheduled nap. We suspect someone might have tripped over the main power cable while reaching for the biscuits.

Don't panic! We are on it. We will be back online and fully functional just as soon as our brightest minds figure out which way the plug goes into the wall.

Thanks for your patience while we locate the socket! Normal service will resume shortly. 🤞

Dear Member,

My name is Mario, and my team and I are delighted to have been selected as your hospitality providers at St Helier Yacht Club. Since receiving the wonderful news, we have been working closely with your Manager and Committee members to understand their vision and to align our service approach with a strong, mutually beneficial financial partnership.

Hospitality is a very particular craft – in respect of SHYC we know our service needs to blend the warmth of a private members’ club with the operational discipline of a professional F&B venue. At its heart, it’s about creating a space where members feel recognised, valued, and at ease. Our service isn’t flashy or hotel‑like; it’s personal, consistent, and will be rooted in the club’s traditions.

I know that members will expect familiarity, reliability, and a sense of belonging, and I will deliver that through attentive front‑of‑house leadership, smooth operations, and a clear understanding of the club’s culture.

I have introduced strong branding, and will adopt a coherent food and beverage identity, and well‑executed events which will help define the member experience just as much as the sailing calendar. Race days, visiting yachts, social evenings, and private functions all rely on a hospitality team that can shift gears effortlessly. When the service, the atmosphere, and the operational systems all align, the club becomes more than a venue — it becomes a community hub with its own character and rhythm.

In order to further understand members’ ideas and expectations, I will be available in the Clubroom every Friday between 18:00 and 19:00. I look forward to meeting members and hearing your thoughts.

With kind regards, Mario.
