Its National Volunteer Week !

What amazes us is how our volunteers prepare each pack as if it were for someone they know and love — a family member, a friend, a neighbour. No matter how many packs are completed, each one is prepared with such care: ironing, folding, tying ribbons, and always remembering the person behind every request.

One volunteer shared something recently that captures the heart of Baby Basics so beautifully
“I want families to know they’re not alone… that there is support even in the smallest of things, and there is someone who cares for them and their baby.” This compassion is what carries Baby Basics.

To every volunteer who has joined us on this journey: thank you. Your kindness, your time, your talents, your belief in this vision, and your willingness to show up again and again.

Not all of our volunteers have been captured on camera — but these few photos absolutely capture the joy, the heart, and the passion our volunteers bring every single week.

Last week, we were humbled by a donation that came with the sweetest handwritten letter from a little girl. It was a beautiful reminder of the compassion within our community.

Thank you to everyone who supports our a simple message “that each parent and their baby are valued, unique and deserve the best possible start in life”.

Thank you to everyone who continues to donate to Baby Basics, we’re so grateful.

A little update on our current needs:
We are very low on 9–12 month clothing (boys and girls). If you’re able to support us with 9–12 month items, it would make a huge difference to us completing our packs.

Meanwhile, we’re pretty much at capacity for 3–6 month clothing, so we will be planning to pause donations in that size for while.

Next week we’re running with fewer volunteers, so if the donation box is full, please do pass items to the community café team at the church. They’ll keep everything safe until we’re able to sort it.

It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been busy behind the scenes at Baby Basics! A massive thank‑you to Adam, who ran throughout March to raise funds for us, and to Silhouette Dance Studio for raising money through their fantastic show. We’re so grateful for your creativity and commitment in the way you choose to support us.

We’ve received an incredible amount of donations recently—clothes, baby items, financial gifts—and our volunteers have been hard at work sorting everything. Beautiful packs have been making their ways out to families who need them.

Whether you’ve donated money, pre‑loved items, time, or skills, please know how much we appreciate you. Every single contribution helps us support families with dignity and care.

Thank you to the volunteers from Ogier who joined us yesterday to help sort donations and prepare our starter packs.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to share the vision and work of Baby Basics with your team.

We really appreciate you giving your time to come and help out, and for the generous donations that you brought along with you. These essential items will go straight into our packs to support local families.

We are so grateful to Every Child Our Future - Jersey . As part of their launch of the “Big Jersey Read” campaign, they have gifted Baby Basics an amazing amount of new books for our starter packs.

Books play such an important role in a baby’s early life. From the very beginning, reading together helps babies feel safe and connected, strengthens bonding between parents and their little ones, and supports emotional, social, and early brain development. This is why we consider books to be essential items in our packs.

January flew by, and was such a busy month. We were able to support so many families with essential baby items.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s played a part in making it happen: those passing on preloved baby clothes, those picking up new items for our packs, and all the talented people knitting for us.
