Shortly after my high school exams, my philosophy teacher died suddenly during his holiday in Greece.
Back then, I immediately believed that this was his greatest and final lesson: the fragility of existence.
Eventually, I have come to consider even more precious what he wrote to us students before the exams: “My wish is that critical and phenomenological reflection on the structures of existence starting from your specific experiences opens you up and maintains you in broad-ranging awareness.”

To be open, in the mind and in the body, is the hardest thing. It requires us to listen to ourselves and others, to be patient and be courageous.
But it’s the only way we have to remain free.
