Happy 1st bday Sierra Mia.

Also happy 365 days to me! 💪

I thought about it the other day, not only should i be celebrating you, but i should be celebrating myself.

I survived 365 of being a new mommy. I have learned to sacrifice my needs or desires gracefully to make sure your needs and desires are met.

I try my best to take of not only you but also myself.

I have laughed, cried, cuddled, collapsed of tiredness… and so much more!

I am proud of myself and proud of you. I feel like a team and you are my little teammate and I couldn’t be the mommy i am today without your help!

Can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the next 365 days!

The beach is never going to mean the same thing that it used too.

Once it was a moment to relax and get some sun. Or maybe a moment to let loose and party.

Now it’s a place for Sierra Mia to let loose, play, get dirty, and hang with other kids.

It’s crazy how a little human can change so much, so fast and my ability to accept all of that change so easily bows my mind even more.

I am so grateful for the moments she gives me. I constantly smile back on moments she gives me. And even while writing this it brings tears to my eyes.

130 days of Miss Sierra Mia 🥰

The first 3 months seemed easy. Now that you are curious and interacting with the world around you, i have trouble balancing everything.

I’ve had some exhausting cries this past month.

The thing that has helped me the most is learning to let go of the expectations that i have for you and me and enjoy our time & accomplishments together.

Ive changed;
I expected to get more things done today, to get done what i can and enjoy my time with you.

I expected you to sleep longer, to happy you got some rest and woke up smiling!

I expected you to play more independently, to enjoy making you laugh and teaching you new skills.

I expected after three months to be able to work on my businesses more, to taking each day as a gift and letting go of control.

I am grateful to know that you have only been in my life 4.5 months (+9 months in tummy) and already teaching me to be a better person.

Don’t know how many mommies can relate to this, but it speaks my truth 100%.

I love being Sierra’s mommy. At times I think why did i wait so long? But then i am happy i did because i was waiting for her. 💞

4 Generations, we are the Famiglia Barajon. 🥰 My grandma’s maiden name, from her dad who was born in naples.

I can’t help but think how lucky Sierra Mia is that she gets to meet not only her nonna but also her bisnonna!

This holiday season has been so special. Not only because I have Sierra to celebrate with but my family coming in town for thanksgiving and Christmas.

I love knowing that my baby girl has so much love surrounding her. She is also bringing so much joy to us. 🤩🥰

Literally the whole family is gogo gaga over her!

I love being your Mommy🥰

I never thought I would enjoy it as much as i am.

I thought I would be more upset about my weight gain.

I thought I would be upset that my time was centered around you.

I thought I would be able to leave you for longer then an hour.

I thought I would use drugs during birth.

I thought I would have a completely different experience…

But I am over the moon to be your mommy.

I enjoy the time i spend with you, even when you are demanding.

I appreciate my weight gain, knowing i have it because of you.

I feel like we worked together to get through natural birth. You had your job to do as well as i did and we survived ☺️

We are still working together as a team to figure out how to be a little girl and a mommy.

We are a team and I couldn’t have asked for a better team mate to have on this journey.

Thanks for letting me be your mommy.

Decided to show off the bump for a night out!

And feeling pretty good about it. ☺️

For as long as i can remember, the idea of being pregnant and gaining weight, not being able to move or do physical activity as i wish had always been a deciding factor on if I wanted to get pregnant or not.

Then my husband finally got me to commit to the idea and even though i do miss sports, sweating my ass off, and feeling toned and tight, I’ve got to admit i can accept this big ol’ belly.

And i do like to feel her moving around in there, testing out her little body parts and getting ready to join us on the outside.

It is beautiful and it is terrifying too…

6 weeks from now i will be full term.

She could decide to come before or even after…

And it’s F**kkking crazy 😝

This week i am feeling exhausted 😩

Spent a week in the mountains and you would think I would be well rested…

I don’t know if it was the change in diet / routine. But i have been super constipated (sorry if it’s to real) and going on 3 days of acid reflux symptoms.

Not to mention my body is sore just about everywhere… eyes, neck, back, legs…

Everywhere 😩

WTF is going on?!?

Do other mammas have similar symptoms? I am just about 9 weeks out from the due date!!

Mind blowing 🤯 literally just around the corner and i will be a mommy 😳

The Feriae Augusti have origins dating back to 18 BC!!!

Originally on the 1st of August, then changed to the 15th to align with the Assumption of Mary, making it a more religious holiday.

Now when we celebrate Ferragosto it’s usually explained that it’s to celebrate the assumption of mary. I’ve never been told any other story.

But originally it was considered a holiday to give rest to the people after the harvest had been done.

It became law during the renaissance that the 15th of August had to be accepted in all businesses and close to give rest, similar to Christmas!

Even during the fascist period in Italy Mussolini organized cheap trains to holiday spots for this specific holiday weekend!

Italians still keep this tradition and usually go to the beaches or the mountains (much like myself this weekend). There are bbqs and eating involved like any other typical Italian holiday or day…😂

I am always fascinated by holidays that have been celebrating for so long! The way they evolve and change according to the times. The way the origins can be forgotten over time.
