📌 Why is it important for a child to learn to swim? 🏊

1️⃣ Drowning is still one of the most common causes of accidental death in children, so being able to swim is an essential life-saving skill. It’s important to remember that children who appear water confident are not always competent swimmers.

2️⃣ Swimming is lots of fun for people of all ages and children especially love getting in the water and enjoying themselves.

3️⃣ Swimming keeps child heart and lungs healthy, improves strength and flexibility, increases stamina and even improves balance and posture.

4️⃣ Another great thing about swimming is that children of any age or ability can take part and it is more accessible for children with additional needs than almost any other sport.

5️⃣ Swimming provides challenges which helps children to become self- confident and believe in their abilities.

6️⃣ The child will have plenty of opportunities to make friends and socialize.

📌 Perché è importante che un bambino impari a nuotare? 🏊

1️⃣ L'annegamento è ancora una delle cause più comuni di morte accidentale nei bambini, quindi saper nuotare è un'abilità fondamentale per salvare la vita. È importante ricordare che i bambini che sembrano sicuri dell'acqua non sono sempre nuotatori competenti.

2️⃣ Nuotare è molto divertente per persone di tutte le età e soprattutto i bambini amano entrare in acqua e divertirsi.

3️⃣ Il nuoto mantiene sani il cuore e i polmoni del bambino, migliora la forza e la flessibilità, aumenta la resistenza e persino migliora l'equilibrio e la postura.

4️⃣ Un'altra cosa grandiosa del nuoto è che possono partecipare bambini di qualsiasi età o abilità ed è più accessibile per i bambini con bisogni aggiuntivi rispetto a quasi tutti gli altri sport.

5️⃣ Il nuoto offre sfide che aiutano i bambini a diventare sicuri di sé e a credere nelle proprie capacità.

6️⃣ Il bambino avrà tantissime occasioni per fare amicizia e socializzare.

📌 Swimming in the river may sound exciting, here are some tips to stay safe too! 💟

1️⃣ Know the water source, risk of pollution/contaminants, flow rates and under currents, safe entry/exits points, potential under water hazards.

2️⃣ Risk assess the conditions, i.e. the water temp, flow and depth, air temp/wind chill, potential weather changes, potential debris or pollution in the water. Definitely avoid river swimming for 3-5days after a storm and when a river is in spate (a largely rain-fed, fast-flowing river).

3️⃣ Never swim alone in rivers, and always have support, they are your call for help. 👭☑️

4️⃣ Always swim upstream from safe entry/exit points or be very clear on where the next safe exit points are if swimming downstream.

5️⃣ Understand your tolerance of cold water swim within your capabilities and be prepared for your post-swim recovery if swimming in the winter. If you have a long walk back after your swim be prepared for ‘'after drop" and the risk of post-swim hypothermia.

6️⃣ If the conditions aren’t safe then you should walk away and accept that ‘today is a non-swimming’ day.

📌 Τι καλύτερο από μια επίσκεψη στο κολυμβητήριο εν μέσω καλοκαιριού; ☀️

1) Κολύμβηση για αρχάριους. 🏊

➡️ Ο κύριος στόχος είναι να μάθετε τις τέσσερις βασικές ασκήσεις: το κρόουλ ή ελεύθερο κολύμπι (crawl), το πρόσθιο (breaststroke), το ύπτιο (backstroke) και η πεταλούδα (butterfly). Επίσης ένας στόχος είναι, το να μάθετε να κολυμπάτε συνεχώς χωρίς να κάνετε διαλείμματα, βοηθούμενοι από την κατάλληλη αναπνοή.

✔️Απόσταση προπόνησης: 700 μέτρα

Αρχική προπόνηση (ανάπαυση μεταξύ του κάθε σετ):

2 x 50 μέτρα κρόουλ (χαλαρό ζέσταμα)

2 x 50 μέτρα ύπτιο (εστίαση στην κολύμβηση σε ευθεία γραμμή)

2 x 50 μέτρα πρόσθιο (εστίαση στην τεχνική)

2 x 50 μέτρα πεταλούδα (αν δεν μπορείτε να κάνετε πεταλούδα, τότε κάνετε κρόουλ)

2 x 100 μέτρα (25 μέτρα από κάθε ένα: πεταλούδα, ύπτιο, πρόσθιο, κρόουλ)

2 x 50 μέτρα κρόουλ (χαλάρωμα)

‼️ΠΟΛΥ ΣΗΜΑΝΤΙΚΟ: Συμβουλευτείτε οπωσδήποτε το γιατρό σας, προτού ξεκινήσετε οποιοδήποτε πρόγραμμα γυμναστικής.

📌 What's better than a visit to the swimming pool in the summer? ☀️

1) Swimming for beginners. 🏊

➡️ The main goal is to learn the four basic styles: crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. Also a goal is to learn to swim continuously without taking breaks, aided by proper breathing.

Training distance: 700 meters

Initial training (rest between each set):

2 x 50m crawl (gentle warm-up)

2 x 50m backstroke (focus on swimming in a straight line)

2 x 50m breaststroke (focus on technique)

2 x 50m butterfly (if you can't butterfly then crawl)

2 x 100m (25m each: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, backstroke)

2 x 50m crawl (relaxation)

‼️VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.
