The Gambia Football Federation has announced the hiring of Tom Saintfiet, a Belgian national, as the Senior National Team Coach of the Gambia for a period of nine months.

According to the GFF, in a statement published in their website on Tuesday, the appointment was done in consultation with the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Hadrammeh Sidibeh.

Meanwhile, GFF will pay the salary of the coach and other associated costs, whiles the Gambia Government is trying to secure funding to take over its responsibilities and all other necessary costs relating to the coach and the national teams.

The 45-year old Belgian, according to the Football House, is fluent in Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish.

GFF said he holds a UEFA PRO License.

Tom coached national teams of Malta, Trinidad and Tabago, Bangladesh, Togo, Malawi, Yemen, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

GFF said he has a wide range of knowledge and experience in coaching national teams across the world, particularly in Africa.

“Given his vast knowledge and experience in coaching we trust that he will help advance all aspect of Gambian football during his reign,” GFF said in a press release.

The unveiling of Tom Saintfiet will take place on Thursday afternoon at a place to be decided.

“GFF would like to thank the Government of The Gambia through the pragmatic new Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Hadrammeh Sidibeh for the collaboration and support rendered to the Federation during the recruitment process of the National Team Coach,” GFF said.
