Alberto Piazza has been taking part in the Malta - Syracuse Race for the past 54 years.

He won three editions of this historic race, in 1990 with Monello 2, 1995 and 1996 he won on Spirit of Shardana. . More recently he competed in his boat Meltem. He won the race with Meltem in 2017.

RMYC Commodore David Cremona and Hon. Secretary Mark Napier presented Alberto with an honorary membership as a sign of a long standing friendship.
