CzechGP - RACE 🇨🇿

Another tough race for us. I didn‘t really make any major mistakes and felt like I got everything out of the package we had today. I tried to stay with Toprak, but every time I pushed a little harder on the brakes or tried to carry more corner speed, I was right on the limit.

He was able to pull away gradually, especially in the tighter sections. The way he can stop the bike in those chicanes is really impressive and there are definitely things we can learn from that.

Physically I felt good throughout the race and was able to push at my maximum from start to finish. The commitment and effort were there every lap, which is the positive I take away from today.

At the same time, it‘s difficult because we know there is still work to do. We‘ll analyse everything carefully, keep working and focus on finding the next step forward.

CzechGP - RACE 🇨🇿

It was good to race at Brno again after such a long time. The weekend didn‘t start the way we wanted, especially in qualifying where we made a mistake that made things more difficult for the races. But overall, I think we did a good job and managed to improve step by step.

Today‘s race was not easy because once again I had to fight my way through the field. I was pushing hard every lap, trying to recover positions and stay with riders ahead of me. In the final laps I was right on the limit, trying to gain one more position, and in the end we were able to finish inside the points.

I‘m happy because we were able to fight with different manufacturers and because every race helps me understand more about MotoGP, the tyres and how to manage the race. There are still areas where we need to improve, and everyone in Yamaha is working very hard to find solutions and keep moving forward.

Now we look ahead to Assen. It‘s a circuit I know well and one that I really enjoy, but the most important thing for me is to start the weekend stronger. If we can do that, I believe we can take another step forward and fight for a better result.

CzechGP - SPRINT 🇨🇿

Today was a frustrating one in some ways because I felt like I put together a lap that was very close to the maximum I had available, and when you do that and still find yourself down in 18th position, it‘s tough to accept. It shows just how competitive the field is right now and how much we still need to find.

The start was also difficult. I got off the line well, but then lost some drive in the acceleration phase and that made it hard to hold position into the first corner. Throughout the Sprint, braking and corner speed were actually quite strong, and I was able to make up time in those areas.

The main limitation was acceleration, particularly in the lower gears. Compared to the riders around us, we were losing too much on corner exit, which made it difficult to attack or stay with the group ahead.

Toward the end of the race the feeling improved and I was finally able to close back in on the riders in front. We’ll analyse the data tonight, understand what happened, and come back tomorrow looking for a stronger race.

Finally, I made a really good start and was able to gain positions immediately. After that I focused on my pace and tried to stay with the riders in front, especially the Hondas.

The biggest challenge was that I could consistently close the gap in the braking zones and on corner entry, but I was losing ground again on corner exit. We are still missing something in terms of turning, and that forces me to wait too much before I can accelerate.

Our race pace was not bad and I think there is potential to take another step forward for the Grand Prix. The medium tyre behaves differently and tomorrow‘s race will give us a better picture of where we really are over the longer distance.

The priority now is to improve the turning characteristics of the bike. Braking performance is much better than before, but if we can make the bike turn more naturally, I believe we can be more competitive and fight closer to the riders ahead.

CzechGP - PRACTICE 🇨🇿

The biggest issue today was turning and overall grip. On the braking side I‘m actually quite happy with the bike, but we are still missing something in the middle of the corner and on corner exit.

This morning was quite positive because with the used medium tyre I was able to do consistent lap times and the pace was not bad. The problem comes when we switch to the soft tyre for the time attack, because we are not able to make the same step forward as the other riders.

We have a lot of data to analyse and my crew chief is working hard to understand where we can improve. I think we need a bike that turns a little better and gives me more grip, especially when pushing for a single fast lap.

The race pace looks more competitive than the qualifying pace, which is encouraging, but tomorrow qualifying will be important. We will keep working overnight, try to improve the package and do our best to make a step forward.
