🇮🇹 Il “Taekwondo Day” è per tutti noi un giorno importante, il giorno in cui i valori olimpici sono diventati la nostra identità. Voglio dedicare questa ricorrenza a tutti gli atleti palestinesi. La guerra è più vicina di quanto non si pensi: è morte, bambini straziati, distruzione, odio. Anche quando non la si combatte direttamente, è responsabilità di tutti adoperarsi , a qualsiasi livello per fermarla. Nessuno deve essere privato del diritto di esistere a nessun bambino il diritto di invecchiare. Oggi, al popolo palestinese questo diritto viene negato. Lo sport ha il potere di unire le persone; non deve essere strumentalizzato, ma utilizzato per raggiungere questo scopo. La guerra è contro i valori olimpici: non servono altri motivi per ripudiarla e far sentire la propria voce.

🇬🇧 “Taekwondo Day” is an important day for all of us, the day when Olympic values became our identity. I want to dedicate this anniversary to all Palestinian athletes. War is closer than one might think: it is death, children torn apart, destruction, hatred. Even when we are not directly fighting it, it is everyone’s responsibility, at every level, to work to stop it. No one must be deprived of the right to exist, no child of the right to grow old. Today, the Palestinian people are being denied this right. Sport has the power to unite people; it must not be exploited, but used to achieve this goal. War is against Olympic values: no other reasons are needed to repudiate it and to make one’s voice heard.
