Paolo Barbera, triathlon coach by profession. On his arm, a very angry gorilla tattooed with pride. Just like the symbol of his team, the Gorillaz Ironteam.

But why a Gorilla? “Because doing a long-distance triathlon is like fighting a gorilla: you can only stop when he gets tired.”

At Challenge Cesenatico there were so many Gorillaz, proving that triathlon, when experienced this way, is first and foremost a sport about community and sharing. The result hardly matters, what matters most is being there and having fun.

We asked Paolo some advice on how to tackle the race, but now it’s your turn. Would you like to tell us what your team spirit is all about?

Paolo Barbera, professione triathlon coach. Sul braccio, un gorilla molto arrabbiato tatuato con orgoglio. Come il simbolo del suo team, il Gorillaz Ironteam.

Ma perché proprio un gorilla? «Perché fare un triathlon lungo è come combattere contro un gorilla: puoi fermarti solo quando lui è stanco».

Al Challenge Cesenatico i Gorillaz erano davvero in tanti, a dimostrazione che il triathlon, vissuto così, è prima di tutto uno sport di gruppo e condivisione. Poco importa il risultato, conta su tutto esserci, divertirsi.

A Paolo abbiamo chiesto qualche consiglio per affrontare la gara, ma ora la parola passa a voi. Vi va di svelarci lo spirito del vostro team?

𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨

"Voglio diventare un professionista"
Marco ha 20 anni, un sogno e il fuoco negli occhi.

Nei sette mesi di preparazione per Challenge Cesenatico, aveva già dimostrato a sé stesso quanto fosse disposto a investire in quel sogno: nessun allenamento saltato, oltre un'ora guadagnata sulla stessa distanza e una sola certezza, quella di voler scoprire fin dove potesse arrivare.

Poi lo start. E qualche ora dopo, il traguardo e un altro passo in un percorso costruito con costanza, sacrificio e una fame che non si misura con il cronometro.
Perché diventare PRO non significa solo ottenere un titolo. Significa avere il coraggio di inseguire ogni giorno la migliore versione di sé, allenamento dopo allenamento.

Noi continueremo a seguire il suo viaggio perche Marco ormai è parte della Family❤️‍🔥

𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨

Austria. Inverno. Allenamenti. Gare in montagna. Poi Cesenatico.
Un ultimo check alla bike, una corsa leggera, carbo loading e una notte di attesa prima della gara.
Lisa-Maria Dornauer è una triatleta professionista ed è arrivata sulla start line con mesi di preparazione alle spalle e un obiettivo preciso: migliorare il quarto posto dello scorso anno e lottare per il podio.
Ma quello che ci porteremo a casa non è solo l'atleta, è il sorriso con cui ha affrontato il weekend e quel ruggito da leopardo che ci ha ricordato che, anche ai massimi livelli, il triathlon deve continuare a essere divertimento.
Silent as a leopard. Strong as a triathlete.

𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨
Due anni fa Andrea pesava 155 kg.
Fumava. Faceva fatica a giocare con i suoi figli.
Il 9 maggio era sulla start line di Challenge Cesenatico.
Non perché fosse il più portato, non perché fosse già un atleta, ma perché un giorno ha deciso di cambiare tutto.
Sveglie alle 5 del mattino, allenamenti prima del lavoro, caldo, freddo, stanchezza, dubbi.
Un passo alla volta, contro ogni limite e forse anche contro qualche legge della fisica.
A Cesenatico quella sfida è diventata reale e sotto l’arco d’arrivo c’eravamo tutti: il nostro team, suo padre, le persone che hanno creduto in lui dal primo giorno a fare il tifo non per un tempo finale, ma per una trasformazione.
Perché Challenge Cesenatico non è solo una finish line.
Per qualcuno è il posto in cui ricomincia la propria vita.

Every stroke, every step, every finish line told the same story: DETERMINATION.
