Come un lampo sulle pareti del Wenden: Iris Bielli passa su “Zahir” (8b+) in libera in giornata, sempre a vista tranne sul terzo e settimo tiro chiusi al secondo tentativo. Roba da pelle d’oca: Iris, più soddisfatta che mai, è stata semplicemente superlativa, ha firmato un capolavoro nel suo stile fatto di talento e determinazione.

Non se lo aspettava – ma non c’è da stupirsi se ci è riuscita, visto il suo curriculum – e questo stato speciale di “mente libera” l’ha forse ulteriormente aiutata.

Così ci sarebbe piaciuto essere lì, come suo padre Matteo alla sicura e alle jumar – che fatica! –, e vederla salire lungo quei muri che sono la sua passione: avanti con la testa, le dita e il cuore, da un appiglio ridicolo all’altro per 300 metri fino alle rocce sommitali. Dove finalmente si respira e la vista – nella sera perfetta di venerdì 24 luglio 2026 – spaziava sull’intero massiccio del Wenden e più lontano. E Iris lassù, stanchissima, felice e libera dopo 11 ore a pieni giri come probabilmente non le era mai capitato.

Like a lightning across the walls of Wenden: Iris Bielli has free climbed Zahir (8b+) in a single day, onsighting every pitch except for the third and seventh, sent on her second attempt. The result is incredible! Happier than ever, Iris delivered a masterclass in the style that defines her, a mix of talent and determination.

She never expected it, but given her climbing background, no one should be surprised! Climbing without expectations may be what made all the difference. We wish we could’ve been there with her father Matteo belaying and jugging, watching her climbing on those walls.

For 300 meters she climbed committing to every hold and every move, up until when she reached the summit. There she stopped, took a breath and enjoyed the view: happy and free after 11 hours of climbing, in a way she probably had never experienced before.

🏔️ Enjoy Yosemite! Francesco Ratti ha seguito il consiglio: ha passato alcuni giorni nella mitica valle californiana e con Marco Bermejo ha ripetuto “Freerider” su El Capitan, la “Steck-Salathé” sulla Sentinel Rock e infine il Nose in giornata, attaccando alle 3 del mattino e arrivando in cima alle 21. Complimenti!

🏔️ Enjoy Yosemite! Francesco Ratti followed this advice and spent some days in the mythical Californian valley, repeating “Freerider” on El Capitan, the “Steck-Salathé” route on Sentinel Rock and then the Nose in a day, setting off at 3 am and reaching the top at 9 pm. Well done!
