Peace and Sport. Today, WAKO counts 147 affiliated countries in 5 continents, which are officially recognized by their National Olympic Committees or by their highest Government sport authorities. WAKO ensures development in-line with the Olympic Movement and its various Charters, whose principles are integrated into all documents and policies of WAKO organization. With its modern marketing and media strategy, WAKO has gained over 250,000 fans on social media platforms. Sport kickboxing can be practiced on competitive or recreational level, but for sure it is a sport designed to improve overall health, strength and endurance.

New Leadership for Bulgarian Kickboxing and Muay Thai

A new chapter has begun for Bulgarian kickboxing and Muay Thai, following the Extraordinary Elective General Assembly of the Bulgarian Confederation of Kickboxing and Muay Thai.

Mr. Mario Ivanov was unanimously elected President by the member clubs, receiving a strong mandate to lead the Confederation into its next phase of development.

President Ivanov earned the trust of the Bulgarian kickboxing community through a forward-looking program focused on professionalism, transparency, and sustainable growth. His vision includes stronger cooperation with clubs, improved governance, athlete development, and the continued promotion of kickboxing and Muay Thai at every level.

The General Assembly also elected a new Board of Directors, bringing together experienced and dedicated individuals committed to strengthening the Confederation and further advancing the sport in Bulgaria.

This leadership transition marks the beginning of a new era for Bulgarian kickboxing. With a clear strategic vision, renewed energy, and the strong support of its member clubs, the Confederation is committed to building a modern, transparent, and athlete-centered organization while continuing to develop both grassroots participation and high-performance success.

WAKO President Roy Baker congratulates President Mario Ivanov and the newly elected Board of Directors, wishing them every success as they lead Bulgarian kickboxing and looking forward to work together in developing kickboxing in Bulgaria, Europe and in the wider community and WAKO family.
He thanked the previous President Galin Dimov for his contribution for developing sport of kickboxing in Bulgaria.

Dr. Supranee Guptasa Appointed Advisor to the Committee on Sports in the House of Sport Representatives

Dr. Supranee Guptasa, the Honorable President of Kickboxing Association of Thailand has been officially appointed as an Advisor to the Committee on Sports of the House of Representatives.

The appointment was approved on 10 June 2026.
The Committee recognized Dr. Guptasa’s extensive knowledge, professional experience, and outstanding qualifications, which led to her appointment.

WAKO President Roy Baker said:

“This is great and positive step for the sport of kickboxing. Congratulations to Dr. Supranee Guptasa on this well-deserved appointment, and best wishes for continued success in supporting the development of sport through this important role.”

Bolivarian Youth Games Caracas 2026!

Kickboxing will once again be part of the Bolivarian Youth Games, marking its third appearance after successful editions in 2024 and 2025 in Ayacucho, Peru. Six countries have confirmed participation, with Chile expected to join.

Junior athletes (16–18) will compete in Point Fighting, Kick Light, and K1 from 19–21 November 2026 at the Luis Navarro Gymnasium in Los Teques, Miranda State.

This is another important milestone in Kickboxing’s journey toward broader continental recognition. Special thanks to WAKO PanAm President Paulo Zorello and Venezuelan Kickboxing Federation President Dario Alvarado for their leadership and commitment to the continued growth of Pan American Kickboxing.

The unifying power of kickboxing brings us together at the Mediterranean Games 2026 in Taranto, Italy!

Kickboxing is participating in the Mediterranean Games as a demonstration sport and it is a great achievement and a significant milestone on the WAKO Olympic journey.

🔷Kickboxing Discipline: K1
🔷Categories: Male: 63,5, 71, 75, 86, 91.
Female: 52, 56, 60, 65, 70
🔷Dates: 31 July - 2 August 2026.
🔷Schedule: 31st July arrival, weigh control, medical check, draw and quarter finals matches; 1st August semi finals and finals; 2nd August departure.
📍Place: Taranto, Italy, Pala Mazzola sport hall.

Deadline to receive Participation form is 26th June.
