As we snack on the samosas of success for the summer, let's check out what our team captains had to say about our busiest 5NRD season ever! (Captioned below)
All-Stars, Tier 3 South OTA: “Entering a third team into Five Nations this season was a big decision! Everyone has worked so hard and the entire league has supported us - it's been phenomenal to see us all come together. Bringing home the Tier 3 South gold after an unbeatable winning streak and getting our ticket punched to Playoffs in November is simply the icing on a very delicious cake. The All-Stars are back!”
A, Tier 1 WFTDA: "Tier 1 was a nail biter with placings not decided until the final game on the final day. Our favourite moment was seeing the team come together against Birmingham, and win despite the odds being stacked against us! We lost one jammer to injury in the first 15 minutes, two of the team had food poisoning, there was a mid game tech delay of over an hour and the team still managed to pull together and win. It was such a good vibes game."
Bees, Tier 3 South WFTDA: ”Entering Tier 3 as the firm underdogs we knew that it would be a challenging season, still the Bees found a lot of brightness and joy. We focused on personal goals, consolidated our pack work, celebrated every single point, and appreciated the community more than ever. The camaraderie between teammates, the unwavering support of our bench crew (and their game-day outfits!!), and every sweaty hug or fist-bump shared with opponents, officials and volunteers.
We’re very proud of the roller derby we played, and the way we faced the challenges presented to us, and can’t wait for more.“
