Mindfulness is not just something we practice sitting still.
It can change the way we observe our breath, relate to our thoughts, experience a meal, and notice the small moments that make up our lives.
Recently I had the pleasure of guiding a mindfulness and mindful eating experience at Hotel Belvedere on Lake Como as part of a beautifully curated wellness retreat for international journalists and creatives.
We began with a brief introduction to mindfulness and a short guided practice to help participants arrive more fully in the present moment.
During this practice, I shared a simple reminder:
“You don’t have to improve the breath. You don’t have to perform for me.”
Before lunch, the group explored a sensory mindful eating exercise designed to help them slow down and experience food with greater awareness through sight, smell, texture, taste and sound.
The session was followed by a beautiful plant-based lunch prepared by the hotel’s kitchen, offering an opportunity to bring that same awareness and presence into the meal itself.
Although the weather kept us indoors, the changing light over the lake was a beautiful reminder that mindfulness is not about waiting for perfect conditions, but about fully arriving in the moment that is already here.
A thoughtfully curated wellness experience, and a pleasure to be part of.
Thank you to and for the invitation, and to for the beautiful setting.
