Poudarki: V jami nad planoto Kras ("Matični Kras") je bil odkrit redek glineni sediment, montmorilonitna glina. Geokemijske analize kažejo, da izvira iz preperelega vulkanskega pepela Smrekovškega vulkanskega kompleksa, starega več kot 20 milijonov let. Rezultati predstavljajo močan dokaz, da je kraška pokrajina v severozahodnih Dinaridih obstajala že ob koncu oligocena. Jamski sedimenti predstavljajo dragocen geološki arhiv, ki omogoča vpogled v razvoj kraških sistemov, vulkansko dejavnost in okoljske spremembe. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/dep2.70013

(2025): Nature, origin and significance of a clayey cave deposit: Relationship between karst and Oligocene/Miocene tephra (NW Dinarides). The Depositional Record, 00, 1–21.
Highlight: A rare montmorillonite clay deposit was discovered in a cave above the Kras Plateau (“Classical Karst”). Geochemical analyses indicate that it originated from weathered volcanic ash of the Smrekovec Volcanic Complex, dating back over 20 million years. The findings provide strong evidence that a karst landscape already existed in the northwestern Dinarides by the end of the Oligocene.
