What an incredible, intense, and rewarding experience. Seeing so much curiosity and interest in our project made every single hour of hard work this past year completely worth it.

The absolute best part was the incredible welcome we received, meeting so many amazing people and instantly feeling part of this big family.

Ready, set... SuMoth Challenge! ⛵️✨
June has been an incredible and emotionally charged month for our team. We dedicated ourselves heart and soul to preparing the materials to bring to Malcesine, focusing on the Team Pitch and the presentation of the first phase of the project (S1 presentation).

Here are the highlights of this adventure:

👀 We are only at day 4 of the competition, but we have already fully experienced the unique atmosphere of the SuMoth Challenge directly on the racecourse, breathing in the adrenaline and innovation that define it. We still have a few days ahead of us here in Malcesine!

🤝 It was amazing to finally meet the other teams in person, exchange ideas, and build new connections within this wonderful community.

🎤 With the Team Pitch, we officially introduced ourselves to the competition, sharing who we are and what our goals are.

📊 During the S1 presentations, we finally showed everyone the project developed over these months of hard work, officially wrapping up the efforts of the 2026 season.

Arriving at the SuMoth Challenge is not the end of a journey for us, but the beginning of a season that we hope will bring great achievements! 🚀

📐 A New Beginning: Following the submission of our first report, we have officially entered in a new phase. Our journey this year focuses only on the design, as we are enrolled in the SMC26 only for the S1 phase. Therefore, our goal now shifts toward the next edition with the ultimate objective of having a finished boat. To achieve this, we have updated our timeline and reorganized internal roles, defining clear priorities for the months ahead.

💻 Content Creation: Over the past few weeks, we have been working on new content for the competition, including a blog post and our team teaser. Additionally, we are finalizing our new website, which we plan to launch as soon as possible to showcase all the work done so far.

🌱 Future: We are currently preparing materials for future team members: our goal is to build a solid foundation so that those joining us next year can hit the ground running, capitalizing on the experience and knowledge gained throughout this season.

🏆 The Core of our Challenge: Submitting Report S1 is the beating heart of our journey in the SuMoth Challenge 2026. Since we are focusing exclusively on the design phase for this edition, this document represents our team’s ultimate collective effort: months of analysis, structural calculations, and technical decisions aimed at defining the very soul of our Moth.

💡 Expert Mentorship: We had the immense honor of a video call with Ruggero Tita. Discussing our design details with an Olympic Gold Medalist allowed us to validate our choices and receive invaluable feedback to refine our final technical doubts. A moment of pure inspiration for the entire team! ⛵🔥

⚙️ Industry Insight & Networking: Theory comes to life through dialogue with industry leaders. This month, we had the privilege of visiting two world-class excellence hubs:

The North Sails flagship store for the “Between Sustainability and Performance” event in collaboration with Maccaferri Futura, exploring new frontiers for low-impact materials.

Harken Italy - Marine, for a deep technical and philosophical dive into the future of sailing.

🇬🇧📐 Design & Performance: Our design process is currently focused on the foils and hull, with the primary goal of reducing take-off time and maximizing flight speed. We are working extensively on the hull’s volume in order to optimize this aspect to its fullest.
🤝 Continuous Brainstorming: Our weekly meetings remain open to all departments. We firmly believe that the exchange of ideas between the students handling structures, aerodynamics, and those focused on trim and handling, is the key to finding innovative solutions.
🛠️ Tools and simulations: we are performing FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis on key components, such as the wingbars, to ensure that every structural load is perfectly managed.
⚙️ Industry Insight: Thanks to the invitation provided by , we had the chance to visit headquarters. Meeting such high-level industry leaders is a great opportunity for our team’s growth as we prepare for the challenges that await us.

🎬 Vlog S1: We have officially filmed, edited, and submitted our design vlog. It’s been a challenge to showcase all our hard work, but we can’t wait for you to see the final result and also take a behind-the-scenes look at the project. 🍿

Grazie alla preziosa opportunità offerta da Maccaferri Futura, il nostro team ha potuto visitare la sede di Harken Italy, leader mondiale nell'attrezzatura velica d'eccellenza.
Poter osservare da vicino i processi produttivi e l’innovazione tecnologica dietro le componenti è stato un momento di grande crescita. Confrontarsi con realtà di questo calibro ci permette di capire come l’ingegneria e la passione si trasformino in performance pura.
