⚠️⚠️⚠️ Important Notice: Inspection and Maintenance for NYLOVE Webbing Permarigs
Dear Spider Slacklines Customer,
We would like to inform you about an important update regarding the maintenance and safety of NYLOVE webbing, especially for those using it in PERMARIG setups.
Recently, we received a report from one of our customers, Matteo Incerti , who observed signs of wear on one of his NYLOVE webbings after six months of permarig use near a water surface. The webbing showed cuts near the stitching, particularly on the side exposed to the sun.
During the same period, a similar case was reported in Switzerland by the ISA, involving a NYLOVE permarig exposed for a total of about 15 months (6.5 + 8 months) to UV rays over a water surface. For more details, please refer to the ISA report. https://data.slacklineinternational.org/publications/highline/webbing/webbing-break-tests-spider-nylove-2024-v1-en.pdf/
While other NYLOVE permarigs have shown prolonged durability under similar conditions, this incident suggests that UV exposure, combined with humidity, may have compromised the integrity of the material.
To ensure your safety, we strongly recommend that all NYLOVE webbing owners:
- Cease using it in permarig setups until further notice.
- Inspect your webbing immediately: Carefully check for any cuts, abrasions, or signs of wear along the entire length, especially on surfaces frequently exposed to sunlight.
- Understand the factors affecting wear: UV exposure, wet/dry cycles, humidity, and general abrasion can accelerate deterioration. Please note that visual inspection alone may not be sufficient to fully assess your webbing’s condition—it is essential to know its age and usage conditions
- Review all specifications and follow ISA recommendations for safe permarig use. If your webbing appears in unsatisfactory or questionable condition, please contact us at [email protected] for a joint assessment.
Safety is our top priority. Spider is committed to conducting further tests on NYLOVE webbing batches and collaborating with the ISA Safety Commission to investigate and address any issues. We thank the customer who reported the issue and all those who help maintain the highest safety standards within our community.
Stay safe,
The Spider Slacklines Team
