Chi mi conosce sa quanto io ci tenga alla trasparenza e non ho fatto mistero con nessuno che Thestral, da qualche mese, è stato ritirato dalla riproduzione a seguito della notizia che una delle sue figlie, Cento dei Matiblu, nella cucciolata con Remi dei Matiblu, ha avuto delle crisi epilettiche. Ho fatto delle ricerche e ho preso questa decisione.
Negli anni ho sempre cercato notizie e ovviamente ho trovato un sacco di polvere nascosta sotto i tappeti, tra cui sono epilettici:

Gift è la mamma di Thestral
Un cane della cucciolata Lynn (ISDS 302534) x Sweep (ISDS 295924).
Lynn e Sweep sono rispettivamente i nonni di Remi e Thestral, pertanto la loro cucciolata è stata un ritorno di sangue su un accoppiamento che insieme aveva già manifestato la malattia. Ovviamente ne io ne Mati Capi avremmo fatto la cucciolata se lo avessimo saputo!!!
Queste notizie le ho trovate chiedendo e spulciando ovunque, nessun database ha inseriti questi cani, ne gli allevatori hanno informato.
Ieri mi arriva questo screenshot da Irma Bertolini, proprietaria di Dev, padre di Thestral. Si tratta di un post del 2021, ripeto, 2021!!!!!!!! Nessuno di noi sapeva NIENTE!!!
Taghjir è Mind The Dog Ray-Ban, ovvero FRATELLO PIENO di Thestral, epilettico ormai da Ottobre 2020.
La proprietaria di Taghjir non è nell’ambiente cinofilo, non ha mai informato Valentina Balli riguardo questa cosa, però di fatto ad averlo saputo le cose probabilmente sarebbero state diverse, almeno per me.
Scrivo tutto questo perché questa è una malattia subdola, incontrollabile, la differenza la fa solo un colpo di fortuna a volte, però la trasparenza di queste informazioni sicuramente aiuterebbe tantissimo a fare scelte consapevoli. I silenzi, il far finta di niente e trovare giustificazioni per cui quel cane “non è epilettico ma…”, spesso puntando sempre il dito contro l’altro, sono solo un modo per far sì che questa cosa sia ancora più fuori controllo.
Se vi nasce un cucciolo epilettico, ditelo, non abbiate paura della gogna, se avete un cane epilettico, condividete il suo nome nei database, potreste aiutare altri a non trovarsi in queste situazioni orribile! Dovrebbe essere davvero facile, non capisco perché non funzioni ancora così!

Who knows me, also knows how it’s extremely important for me to be clear and I’ve never hidden that Thestral, since a few months, is retired as stud, because one of his daughters, Cento dei Matiblu, from the litter with Remi dei Matiblu had some epilepsy crisis, so I made some research and decided for it.
During those years I’ve always checked for informations and unfortunately I found a lot of stuff sweep under the rug, related not only with my dog, but in general in Border Collie, but we’re are talking about Thestral blood line and so:

Gift is the MOTHER of Thestral
One puppy from Lynn (ISDS 302534) x Sweep (ISDS 295924).
Lynn and Sweep are grandparents respectively of Remi and Thestral, so their own litter has been very risky because a similar match had already shown the disease. Nor me or Matilde Caprino knew about this case, otherwise we’ve never ever matched them.
Any of those informations are in official database, or shared by breeders.
Yesterday I received this screenshot from Irma Bertolini, owner of Dev, Thestral’s father.
That post is a 2021 post!! Any of us knew anything about this.
Taghjir is Mind the Dog Ray-Ban, full brother of Thestral and he’s has epilepsy episodes since October 2020.
The owner of Taghjir is not in cyno-world and she never said something about that to Valentina Balli. Probably if I knew about him, I made very different decisions.
So I wrote this post ‘cause this is a sneaky disease, out of control, usually you are just lucky in not “meeting” it, but sharing cases and news it will be really helpful in making aware decisions.
Silence, pretending nothing happens and finding excuses as “he/she isn’t properly epileptic, but…”, usually pointing finger at others, are just a way to let this s*** growing up.
If a puppy of your litter becomes affected, tell it, don’t be afraid of being criticised; if your dog is epileptic, share his name on databases, you could help other people to not fall in the same nightmare! It should be so easy, I really don’t understand why it doesn’t work yet!
