🇬🇧 How well do you know the bolt to which you entrust your life?
As climbers, we often ignore, or don't pay enough attention, to different aspects of the environment we are in. Today we want to focus on this photo and on the material it portrays, to address, shortly, the topics of rebolting and protections. It is not so obvious to recognize the wear and reliability of the protections we find during our climbs. Each of them has strengths and weaknesses, strong points and critical points.
Look at the photo: between the 90s eyebolt or cable tensioner, just replaced, on the left, and an expansion bolt (spit) on the right, what similarities and differences do you find between them in terms of performance, safety, environmental impact, durability, etc.?

🇮🇹 Quanto conosci il chiodo a cui affidi la tua vita?
Spesso noi scalatori ignoriamo o non facciamo abbastanza attenzione a differenti aspetti, anche molto importanti,
dell'ambiente in cui ci si trova.
Oggi proviamo a porre il focus su questa foto e sul materiale che ritrae, per affrontare, brevissimamente, l'argomento richiodatura e protezioni.
Non è così scontato riconoscere l'usura e l'affidabilità delle protezioni che troviamo durante le nostre salite.
Ognuna di loro ha pregi e difetti, punti forti e punti critici.
Osserva la foto:
Tra il golfaro o tendicavo anni 90, appena sostituito, a sinistra, ed un tassello ad espansione (spit) a destra, quali analogie e quali differenze trovi tra di loro in termini di prestazioni, sicurezza, impatto ambientale, durata etc..?
