In Sequoia’s story, the pursuit of quality has always been a true obsession.
Sequoia was born in a basement, but over the years I’ve had the opportunity to produce in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, California, Thailand and Australia, as well as visit manufacturing companies and production facilities in Japan. I’ve always tried to meet different people and learn from different techniques and cultures, because I believe quality also comes from the ability to observe and learn.
This is perhaps one of the most Italian aspects of Sequoia: the pursuit of excellence, attention to detail, and the desire to create an ever-better product. It is also why, from the very beginning, I chose to collaborate with some of the best manufacturing companies in the world.
For several years now, our main production has been based in Portugal. A choice driven by quality, expertise and, above all, a mindset that I feel is very close to the Italian one.
The Portuguese, besides having a strong surf culture, are deeply proud of their work and their products. They genuinely care about doing things well. Criticism is taken very seriously, not as an offense, but as something to understand and, when necessary, correct.
And this is precisely the attitude I consider essential for improvement: never settling for what we did yesterday, acknowledging a mistake when there is one, and constantly looking for a way to do something new, more precise and better.
In the end, it’s all very simple: quality exists to help us do better what we love.
And as surfers, we all want the same thing: to surf better.
